VOTE FOR PUCK ON TWC AND GET INSPIRED!
Happy New Year! If you want to start 2016 right, you’ll want to see Puck’s motivational poster. (Yes, it’s inspired by Rosie the Riveter, but the message has been considerably improved. Words to live by!)
VOTE TO FEEL THE OVERWHELMING POWER OF DEMOCRACY RUN THROUGH YOUR VEINS!
As for this comic…
I thought this one was pretty funny. That’s never a good sign.
This should be an interesting few comics coming up. Any fisticuffs?
I’m not promising anything. But I do hope it’s interesting.
I know that I’m not going to be getting a rose garden from you. However….. is someone going to be shoved in one that the Funderland maintains?
I think those are begonias in that big maple leaf garden, actually.
Bogus.
Miranda: “I don’t know any of these idiots.”
Some babies at a certain stage in their first year take on this passively observant kind of expression that looks a lot like they’re perpetually unimpressed. I have fun with that.
I’ve noticed that too and you capture the look perfectly. And since Miranda is Puck’s daughter with Daphne as a big sister/role model, you’ll probably get to draw that expression well into Miranda’s adolescent years.
Likely. Very likely.
Daphne as a role model… that’s like having Lindsy Lohan as a guidance consular, or George Bush as a motivational speaker… … …
Wait…
I can think of worse role models. But they’re all currently in maximum security prisons.
When it comes to worse role models…2021 calling.
I’m just trying to find where I left off in this comic.
However 2018, 2019, 2020, and the first few weeks of 2021 have been FULL of bad role models.
The United States capital was invaded, 4 or 5 people were killed, and yet nobody was arrested? The current president of the United States may have encouraged them to do this? Despite the fact that he has less than 2 weeks left in office, we may be impeaching him, so at very least he can’t run for office again in four more years?
I’m still wondering about Canada’s Wo – FUNderland having a jail…
Where else are you going to put the people who cut in line? The schnorf kingdom?
I thought we covered this… you put them on the singing Schnorff’s ride, in perpetuum….
You’re awful. In a wonderful way.
That would be far more horrifying.
I’m sure they do. Haven’t stayed in it myself, but I’d put money on its existence.
I knew I saw a resemblance between you and the guard! I was wondering if you were making a cameo in your own comic. The expression, the facial hair… I love that you drew yourself into your own comic. It’s just great.
I thought that gecko was the hot dog guy.
I sort of am. More than this one.
Well, it’s not really a self-portrait. It’s more of a ‘this is how I feel on a tired day’ emotional portrait. I hope I don’t look quite this craggy and worn.
No, I’d agree. Definitely not on a normal day. But I feel as though it’s the way you looked on a day when Sarah and I were being particularly ridiculous.
Plus, the coffee is probably doing a lot of work in reminding me of you. You’re never not drinking it.
True fact: 50% of the time, it’s just water I’m drinking. I have to hydrate due to the fact that I’m drinking coffee the other 50% of the time. And you’ve never been particularly ridiculous.
Hmm, I never would have guessed. But I guess if you don’t want to walk around with a massive headache, hydrating is kind of required.
Also, you’re too kind. I’m glad to know one of us thinks I’m not ridiculous 😛
Another thought, after re-reading Colin’s dialogue I’m kind of surprised that he didn’t say “waif” seeing as he teaches English.
Missed opportunity.
Well, the guard seems pretty apathetic, let’s hope that Colin has nothing more to go through than signing some papers designed to cover the parks ass. True beurocracy in action.
Well, let’s hope. But if Colin can mess something up, he will.
Watch him get thrown in the jail with Daphne and Tyler… You know he’ll manage it somehow.
You called it first.
Frozen tag, anyone? That is a tag game where It freezes people when tagging them. The frozen people have to hold out their arms and have a non-frozen person pass under one arm in order to get unfrozen. It wins if everyone else gets frozen.
The Puck version would have various members of the permanent cast getting tossed in the pogey with the unjailed ones trying to get them out while running the risk of getting jailed themselves. This might be an easier game for It. Maybe even, much easier.
Rather apt.
Boy that gaurd couldn’t give one less sh#$ if he tried lol ‘course Baby doesn’t like she gives much of a damn either lol as long as she’s safe from helicopter parents and shnorfs 😛
It takes a lot of work to draw a total lack of caring.
I can understand why you have the same expression as the guard in real life; I’m very much the same. Though I guess you have them for different reasons.
The crippling amount of sarcasm in Daphne’s comment makes it all the better.
I have my reasons. The main reason I have is that an expression of intense apathy generally serves to keep people from bothering me.
Like George Costanza.
Look aggravated all the time so no one bothers you – and then you have time to take a nap under your desk.
Exactly.
I have a feeling this guy isn’t going to be as easy to bribe as Papa Schnorf…
Maybe not.
Does this mean that Colin sees Daphne as his adoptive daughter, and thereby feel the double weight of MANIFEST FAILURE?
Indeed a horse of that color.
In fairness to Colin, to properly parent Daphne would require . . . I have no idea. God the Father couldn’t do it. Maybe The Godfather? (Thinks about it) . . . . I can’t see it. I can’t even think it.
One might as well try to properly parent a cat 4 hurricane.
Don’t feel b ad, Colin. Daff would have been a hodlum if Ward Cleaver or Atticus Finch were her father
But at least they would have had some sage words to impart after the criminal acts occurred. Colin’s more likely to run away.
Does Colin see himself as Daphne’s dad, too?
I would say yes.
Wow.
He might not BE very responsible all the time, but he has TAKEN ON more responsibility than I would have expected. Good one, Colin!
Does he not realize that pretending he didn’t come there looking for Miranda makes him seem like a *worse* father? It implies that he really wasn’t that bothered by the fact that he “mislaid” her.
No. He doesn’t. Which is one of the stupid things that makes me smile about this whole thing.
@ElectricGecko: So, you do occasionally smile… But, but, it says in the alt text … o_o
I only smile on the inside.
Just wondering EG, but is the Funderland park burning to the ground while all this is happening?
No , I’m guessing Tyler’s act of heroism (or built-in sprinkler systems) stopped the fire before it got too crazy.
Learning how to shift a manual transmission with a car that has no 1st or 2nd gear may be similar to learning to be a parent with Daphne.
It can be done. Maybe it has to be done. But it’s gonna leave mental scars.
Given the fact that I never learned how to drive manual, that analogy is apt.
I keep forgetting that there are automatic transmission cars.
Like seriously… manual gear-shift ones are so easy that making it any simpler just seems completely needless. Automatic cars are barely a step up from those mobility scooters for morbidly obese people. Nobody needs that level of oversimplicity.
.
O’course that didn’t stop that examiner failing me twice. Who gives a dude 14 minor infractions for barely-perceptible twitching (partial dyspraxia) when 5 alone in a single category is enough for a fail? I should have passed that test easily the first time… but no. And the second time I got the same examiner again… so… yeah. Complete bell-end.
you can also never use diapers with an infant, means going to the bathroom every hour on the hour so they can do their business on the toilet but at least you never have to change diapers
I’ve heard this, and read articles about it, and you know how many times I’ve seen it in real life? ZERO. Which means I consider it in the same category as sasquatch.
I just love how the security clerk isn’t phased by Colin’s b.s. as he sips his coffee. Its all in the eyes…well done.
The eyes are eyes of weary resignation. I know the expression so well from wearing it all the time.
I love the interest Miranda takes in EVERYTHING. Even when she was tiniest.
Well, it comes from me needing to do SOMETHING with ?Miranda, even when she’s unable to actually do anything. So she can watch.
Well, I’ve noticed babies watching. They don’t do it all the time, but it’s adorable when they do. And you just know they’re taking it all in. 🙂
