Oh, where to begin? This strip shows serious signs of what I’ll now call “chibi disease.” For no reason whatsoever, the characters’ heads began to grow larger. It was a weird change in style; it only lasted for a few strips, and then it was gone as quickly as it had arrived. The weirdest part of the whole thing was that I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THEIR HEADS WERE HUGE. Honestly.
A friend of mine looked at this strip when it was published and said “What’s wrong with you? Her head is enormous.” I had to do a double-take. Giant headism is an irritating tendency in my drawings that I have to fight even to this day. I have no idea why.
You’ll notice Daphne is playing on a PS1. The game she’s playing is obviously a rip-off of Twisted Metal 2. Oh, how I loved that game.
Some people just can’t game. Like you hand them the simplest game with the most basic controls… You come back 5 minutes later and they’ve got the character stuck in a corner with the camera pointing at the floor and can’t figure out how to turn around or look up.
Those people are called ‘girls’. (OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!)
Actually, that’s a generational thing. Girls my age generally can’t game worth much. The girls I teach now? They’re pretty impressive.
If you can re-aim the camera, and turn around, it doesn’t have the “most basic controls”.
In my day, our games had one directional control, between 1 and 4 buttons, and either side scrolled or top scrolled.
And you kids get off my lawn.
What’s this “scrolling” thing? What happened to one screen with a static background, a joystick, and two buttons?
Agreed. I only needed ONE button in the good ole days of Atari 2600.
ONE button?! Original pong doesnt even HAVE a button. And dont be claiming you’re the grand master. Aint nobody that.
Itd be like that map in Quake where you’re surrounded by a buttload of Shamblers, dancing like the floor is made of lava, and on your fourteenth retry, you finally take them all out with your last bullet on three HP, and then the voice-over caption says “M-M-Monster kill!” Like that wasnt obvious…
Trust me, I am grand master of nothing.
That’s right bitchezzzzzz!!! Halo forever!
Watch it, man. Don’t get ’em angry.
*God* I miss Twisted Metal…
I sorta miss it/not miss it. I have fond memories, but think that picking up the game and playing it again would likely make my eyes bleed.
The heads aren’t that large; they look good !
(I’m archive-bingeing for the time Puck killed the helpless woman in her wheelchair, for no reason other than as example to Colin as to what Puck is capable of when she’s angry. I mean, look at what she did to Satan !)
