NEW MARCH VOTING INCENTIVE!!!!
I asked my patrons who should be a leprechaun this year and they voted for Puck, so…
VOTE TO KISS THE BLARNEY STONE!!!
As for this comic…
It is done. The will of the people has been realized. Let use all rejoice in the common good.
Ty, Panel 3 = me.
And perhaps all of us?
…”sigh”…hmm, what?
Oh, its certainly not just you….”sigh”
Well then, it’s official.
I’m more Panel 4 Ty…
Panel 3 is the shock, panel 4 is the awe.
Panel 5 is gonna be a black eye if he doesn’t get his face straightened out before Daphne notices.
Or the next comic.
Perhaps?
Jinkies!
Like, ZOINKS!
Well, what do you know.
All three of our female leads have never looked better !
I’m glad you think so.
Sorry girlfriend. Sometimes, what you want and what’s best are not the same thing. 🙁 In this case, you are the best Daphne and she’s the better Velma…imho and I apologize to any offended by that. Naw, just kidding I ain’t sorry at all.
I don’t know. Can Phoebe be sarcastic enough to be Velma?
I only ask this because of the Scooby-Doo and KISS movie.
Thanks, you just solved a mystery for me.
Some time ago I saw a TV in a public location that was showing a Scooby cartoon with a guitar-shaped spaceship. I could not for the life of me figure out which series it was from. Now I know.
No, Phoebe cannot really do sarcasm. We are just going for looks here, not acting.
So OG!Velma, then? 🙂
Something like that.
I like the way you fake apologize.
Well I be. Looks like someone is making the looks of Velma work well for herself. Yet can she pull off the attitude of the character ?
Well, this isn’t a dramatic reenactment. She just needs to look the part. I think.
Phoebe does look better as Velma than Daphne.
Sorry, that’s the truth.
Truth is self-explanatory. No need to apologize for it.
Heeey, now, she did take an orphan in. Not often, but still.
But can Phoebe do smart? I’m betting yes.

I feel that Phoebe is innocent and eager to please, not stupid.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell them apart but she’s a master seamstress and makes enough money at an entirely different job to lend a friend money to buy a house and her mistakes (such as assuming “cancer” refers to astrology rather than disease) may come not from an inability to think, but a different way of thinking.
It might be hard for her to play as scientifically smart as Ms. Dinkley but my real question is can she play sarcastic – that seems more of a Puck thing:

I agree. Phoebe is naïve, not stupid. I’d say that she’s probably pretty high on the IQ factor but she’s forthright and sincere and guileless and those are traits we (sadly) equate with stupidity in our culture. Puck, meanwhile, is maybe a good example of the opposite. She is caustic and cynical and world-weary, which are traits we associate with intelligence, but … I’m not entirely sure she’s smart, per se. She certainly does a lot of dumb stuff in this comic.
Colin, meanwhile, is both naïve AND a little dumb, so he’s our gold standard.
O.K.
She thrown away centuries of life even before TV was invented. If she would be smart, she would use that time for something … and at this point she would be extremely good at it.
O.K.
Thank you. Whatever we did to deserve this, it could never have been enough.
You deserve it for just being you. Keep on shining, you crazy stars.
***stares at screen and drools***
uhm… uh…
***stares at screen and drools***
Dude, don’t drool on the screen. Bad for the screen.
CALLED IT!
You did. You get a cookie.
Actually, shouldn’t he get a Scooby-Doo Snack?
How right you are.
For your eating pleasure.
Terrifying.
Velma never looked so good. Except maybe in some of the stuff that pops up on E-Hentai…
More than any other character, a casual Google search of the name ‘Velma’ will call up some unspeakable things. Let’s not speak of those unspeakable things.
Don’t do Google for pictures. Do Bing, they have a better picture selection.
Called it. Also, *squeal of joy*
The squeal of joy is the best variety of squeal.
Yay for sexy Velma!
Three cheers!
Wait, Phoebe put her tail UNDER the dress, if she ever raises her tail(like by being starled) she’s gonna flash her butt. Generally there’s a small hole into clothes for the tail.
@Lowin
I’m good with Phoebe flashing her butt.
I’m prolly the only one, though.
😛
Well, you’ll note that Phoebe rarely wears skirts. She mostly wears pants with a hole cut out. If she’s wearing a dress that is closely fitted, she often resorts to the tail hole. But here, with this super-short A-line skirt, it makes sense to just put the tail beneath the skirt. She used a similar approach when she dressed as Betty Boop with an insanely high skirt line. And yes, I suppose this approach is dangerous. But that’s half the fun, right?
Who would DARE call her on it?
not I
Okay, someone needs to submit pouty-lip Velma with bedroom eyes to Warner Brothers animation. THANK GOODNESS Disney has not got its hands on this….
Kudos to Tyler for not just immediately exclaiming “DAMN!!!!” After all, this is a family strip.
Dude’s eyes say what his lips don’t. 🙂
I think WB animation has seen enough of this. The internet is full of pouty-lip Velmas with bedroom eyes.
Speaking personally, I like to keep my Velmas true to form from the original show. Velma should not be a bombshell in the shows. I think that’s wrong, and it’s one of the things I really don’t like in the live action movie versions. But whatever. Here I am, succumbing to the general lure of that thing I don’t like. I’m part of the problem now.
Meh. There are worse problems.
Velma likes her legs and dressed for them. That’s also not what she’s focused on. I’m sure the right context could be found, but that’s what makes Velma difficult! She’s not trying to get attention and she’s smart and yet it comes through. It’s a tightrope and not one anyone just can do.
All tight, her calves. Ignoring the armor, she dresses like a Roman legionary.
Shameless as Hanna-Barbera’s wholesale ripoff of late-50s to early-60s sitcoms was–not to mention rearranging the Looney Tunes Overture as the original theme for the Flintstones–you’d think Warner Brothers would be delighted to do horny Velma. But I bet they can’t.
I feel it’s best not to go down such paths. Remember the nightmare that is “Riverdale”? We don’t need to encourage them on this stuff.
SECONDED!!!
Velma was always the curvier one, she just wore looser clothing than Daphne.
True. Out of the two, Phoebe is the better match in terms of build.
Is it bad that I forgot that Phoebe has a tail until I saw her in the Velma outfit?
It’s not bad if you forget that Phoebe has a tail. It’s bad if I forget that Phoebe has a tail. And yes, I’ve forgotten a few times and had to fix it in post by adding a tail in.
Phoebe is worth more retail…
(sorry)
Never apologize for genius.
Will there be a best in show award? Phoebe ought to win it easily. Call it the “Humina” award.
That’s not best in show. That’s the Humima Award. They’re separate.
Then Phoebe has the “Humina Award” wrapped up.
The speed at which Phoebe can whip a costume up is truly frightening. She’s lucky she’s not handcuffed to a sewing machine in the basement of a fashion house or high-end clothing store someplace.
Almost like the outfits take no effort to draw. I mean ‘make’. Take no effort to make.
🙂
Oh yes 🙂
Had to go there. No choice.
I was too busy drooling over sexy Velma to notice yesterday, but the Look on Tylor’s face in panel 3 & 4 should amply explain to everyone who doesn’t get it what the average nerd thinks of Velma!
…and the lucky devil in in the room with her while the rest of us have to live this moment vicariously….
One thing I DO like, and it has nothing to do with the arc. But the tail. This is the first time I can recall someone putting the tail in the right damn place. Almost as if a tail is an extension of the spine and not a god damn branch off it like you see done in damn near EVERY drawing of someone with a tail.
There’s a reason we call that little bump between our cheeks a tailbone ppl. That’s what’s LEFT of ours. And it NEVER came out of our backs ABOVE our asses.
Well, I try to draw Phoebe’s tail as a bit of a compromise between where it would actually extend from in reality (the base of the sacral triangle, extending downward) and the more popular culturally common depiction (the middle of the sacral triangle, extending perpendicular from the spine). I’ve been told
I’m wrong by many people with Phoebe’s tail placement, but … it’s a tail on a fictional character. So … not worth getting into arguments over.
I will note, though, that for humans our coccyx serves a real purpose: to provide structural integity and hold in our intestines against the force of gravity. Having a real tail (and no coccyx) would probably be … bad. Very bad.
I mean, do we really NEED our intestines?
They just seem to be extra weight to lug around.
People have managed without them. But not managed well.
Tall Velma…. so hot.
Yeah, I guess Velma is usually on the short side. Phoebe is definitely not on the short side. I mean, I wouldn’t consider her tall, but I know that my perception of women’s height is a little distorted because of all the tall women in my life.
My perception of Southern women is distorted because all of the ones I’ve ever known have been tough as nails.
Where’s Colin? I hope he won’t miss Phoebe’s Velma.
I’m sure he’ll get the reveal eventually.
Sigh.
I’ve known many cats in my time, and cats are four-limbed mammals.
As is Phoebe.
I can assure you her tail is situated in the exact proper location.
Sleeper sexy Velma.
