The GREAT NOUN ADVENTURE RETURNS!
A year ago we did a big, weird noun-voting experience over on Patreon with my $5+ patrons and this year it came back with much fanfare! And now you get to see the bizarre results! It’s a pile of weird nouns just thrown into a blender. What will result? Well…
VOTE TO EXPOUND WITH A GREAT DEAL OF NOUNS!!!
As for this comic…
Herein lies the primary saving grace of Puck. She is cynical, and belligerent, and selfish, and (to be honest) a list of her many failings would likely stretch straight to the horizon. But she is somewhat self-aware, and is somewhat willing to grow. She knows that she should rightly be a better person, and periodically makes baby steps toward achieving that goal. She is not very consistent in her quest for self-improvement, nor is she very good at it, but the thought is there.
And that’s gotta be worth something.
You can hear the gears grinding in Colin’s head along with the ‘deer in the headlights’ look of being utterly stunned. Well done!
Yep, it is only a slightly permanent mental scaring.
It’s hard to convey the shock of a wholly new experience.
Whoops. That was the sound of the dog catching the car.
A dangerous sport. More so when successful.
Depends on the car. Trabant, an East Germany car, was rumored to be sometime caught by bigger dogs, brought to garden and buried there.
Not much horsepower in those. Better measured in dogpower.
It’s always scariest the first time that happens. (says the guy whose veterinarian [F] gave him permission to tell the wife I told you so) p.s. note that’s a permission I rarely use.
Best to never use that permission. Just saying.
Snuggles. Snuggles are the right answer.
Well, they’re not really an answer, per se, but they can’t hurt.
*Looks stunned*
Goddammit EG, you’re ending the strip, aren’t you?!
(J/K- you’d better not be.)
A wedding. I was promised a wedding.
Is it that stunning?
Puck was apologetic and Colin was right.
AT THE SAME TIME.
It’s damned near apocalyptic.
Dogs and Cats living together…..
Valley of Hinnom temp 69 C
Mass hysteria! (had to).
Sometimes lightning strikes twice. In quick succession.
Colin was only prepared for being wrong.
When only one outcome has ever occurred, why prepare for anything else?
Baby steps forward, giant leaps backward. So it goes.
Hey, we celebrate any steps forward here, no matter how small they be.
Right, the nightie hasn’t changed at all.

Nor have the pink pillow cases or the grey striped wallpaper. However, they have switched sides of the bed. I assume that means Colin is having to be closer to the bathroom these days.
More likely so that Puck is closer to the crib.
Art style has, though.
I have sympathy for Colin. He’s not sure if he’s walked into a minefield. Everything seems strange in this new world of being right. There’s got to be a catch, a tripwire triggering a punji trap lurking just ahead…
When you’re a confirmed loser, nothing is more terrifying than an unexpected win.
“It’s quiet. Too quiet.”
DANGNABBIT. I forgot to put my hearing aids in, again.
And put the batteries on! It does no good when the batteries ain’t on!
this thrice cursed ball and chain is rechargeable. which means no battery to change, but now I can wake up to a dead aid. they are supposed to be sweat resistant, but i think they are not sealed as good as they should be.
“Make up” sex is always good in moments like this.
Wait for it.
Miranda’s going to get a baby brother, isn’t she?
Although in Colin’s case, it will probably be another daughter.
I think they made that mistake only once.
You’re calling that darling toddler a MISTAKE?!?
I could deal with another kid. But not another pregnancy arc.
I got a baby brother. I’m not saying MIRANDA needs one, it’s just I like mentioning him from time to time.
Now now, I doubt it’s the first time Colin’s been right. Can’t possibly be–right? I mean, not until now? No no, what it must be, it’s the first time he’s been right and he knows he’s been right and others agree! That’s what it must be, ’cause after all, Respect The Colin!
No, you’re 100% right. Colin has been right many times before, but it’s more in the context of having others (read: Puck) openly acknowledge his rightness. That’s the real uncharted territory here.
Indeed. Like the time I told my aunt’s cat Fluffy to ‘Come Here!’ and he did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Personally, I think he only obeyed to confuse me. Which is not the case with Puck and Colin, she genuinely means Colin is right.
Hey, like a broken clock is right twice a day, a wayward cat will obey your command when she’s already going that way.
Well . . . I don’t know.
I enjoyed the arc. Fun times. Are we already starting the next arc?
In a bit. Next arc will be an interesting one. But first there’s a little bit of stuff with peripheral characters that I’d like to do – just a few short mini-arcs about ten or twenty comics in length each.
I did the math, and it looks like it will be about another year before the next main arc.
You’re REALLY in it for the long haul, EG…
Well, I’m in it until I’m not. Like life, I suppose
O.K. Cool. I just asked because sometimes your do a verrrrrry gentle segue and you don’t notice until you’re about 3 or 5 or some other prime number of strips in.
are you saying this is a prime webcomic?
That would be the futuristic reboot: Puck Prime.
No. I just nave 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 etc. on the mind.
But it is great, ain’t it? 🙂
I’m still worried about Pheebs though.
Colin had his righteous anger to carry him through.
Phoebe has crushing disappointment. Is she OK?
We’ll get back to Phoebe. That’ll happen. Don’t worry.
She can afford to only do baby steps. She’s something over 600 years old fairy. She likely has few more millennia of life before her.
Yeah. Rapid character development would result in centuries of boredom.
And don’t forget, she started at a low ebb. She was halucinating her own brain!
Don’t worry, Colin. It’s just a temporary situation. Things will go back to normal in a day or two (or less).
Or even a few minutes!
Colin you dummy count her freckles! Where ever they may be.
It’d take a while. She’s got a lot of freckles.
A long time for her to forget the awkwardness.
concentrate on the… receptive areas.
Fun fact: the receptive areas are usually also the most clothing-covered areas, so they tend to be fairly low on freckles.
So make some freckles and as many as he is willing to count.
Someone tell Colin, there’s a first time for everyone! 😉
Well this is why you love that girl, isn’t it. She’s so damned wrong at times, that you can be right. Definitely a keeper.
You want a woman with flaws who knows she has flaws.
