IT’S ANOTHER MONTH OF RERUNS!!!
This November we’ll be taking a trip down memory lane and looking at a bunch of costumes from previous Halloweens. A new (old) incentive will pop up every few days, so…
As for this comic…
Hannah has no idea what kind of household she’s entering. Though I’m pretty sure she’s up to the challenge.
Do you think that she could survive the roller coaster of Crickistan’s neighborhood?
Hannah probably did fine. Derek and his er…hem “group of friends” dropped her off there.
She likely got dropped off. Maybe by Derek, maybe someone else.
Hannah can survive any roller coaster, I’m pretty sure.
Hannah IS the roller-coaster, amirite?
Indeed.
One of the other comics I read, Monster Soup, just did a Halloween picture of the characters as the Scooby Gang, and the author mentioned wanting to do a crossover with the Addams Family. So it’s a funny coincidence to see Phoebe as Morticia, especially after you recently did a Scooby arc yourself.
Mad respect for Monster Soup. Love that art style. The pages are gorgeous.
Have you read it before, then?
Yeah, I’m not an active reader of many comics due to the fact that I’m spending most of my free time creating this one, but I periodically check out Monster Soup and admire Julie’s artwork. Then I start feeling bad about my own stuff and stop.
Don’t you dare! True, we’re mostly here for the stories, but the art ain’t bad neither. And it’s even gotten better.
There is only one thing that makes me cringe more than looking at my art, and that’s looking at my old art.
When it comes to looking at your old art … have you talked with Howard Taylor of “Schlock Mercenary” or Jeph of “Questionable Content” et cetera? So many great webcomics show progress in drawing, almost as if learning is valuable.
Perhaps the Foglios started so strong in “Girl Genius” because they had a gazillion years in print comics before jumping to the web, whereas you started “Puck” in college?
I guess what I am trying to say is, while little is more common than an artist feeling their work could be better, that your progress is something to be proud of. You took the seed of Puck and it grew into a pretty flower.
Life might be harder now that one’s earliest works are eternally up on the web, instead of quietly consigned to the obscurity of a mother’s refrigerator door.
I’d feel worse if my current stuff were actually good, but I feel the art has only gone from ‘middling’ to ‘upper middling’. And honestly, the greatest asset I have is my writing. But I’m hamstringing myself by making a story-based comic that runs once a week.
I honestly think I’d be better just making a comic with much simpler visuals that I could easily crank three a week on. If I were smart, I’d do that. But I’m not smart.
Please don’t feel bad.
Puck doesn’t know about friendship? Well, if that were true, explain Phoebe.
I’m wondering if Daphne’s shot was a reference to the Scooby debacle.
I think this is just a ‘nasty teen’ shot that is not necessarily in reference to any specific thing. Teens don’t always operate within any given sensible framework.
To be fair, virtually every time Daphne does something out-of-the-ordinary, it involves a scam/scheme. Puck is simply acting on past stimuli…
I can’t remember if I said it last time you had that TWC incentive up, but I think Phoebe would make an AMAZING “Elvira – Mistress of the Dark”.
On the Elvira front, you’re not wrong.
They were room mates in college. Then Phoebe just stuck around.
Nice explanation.
Well, Puck and Colin stuck around. It IS Phoebe’s house after all.
What does Daphne T-Shirt say?
“Just Wiped Out Tomato Town”. A vintage Fortnite meme ref. It hurts me to acknowledge that Fortnite is old enough to have vintage memes, but there you are.
That moment, when Daphne is the sane one . . .
It’s actually quite common.
I make little clay gnome figurines as Christmas presents, and I’m going to start selling them. My working tagline: When homes go gnomeless, gnomes go homeless!
If I could could give you a cookie, I would. Because you deserve a coookie for that.
Mystery Biscuits perhaps? https://tenor.com/view/mystery-biscuits-ohyeah-citation-needed-gif-13376399
You win the Internet for today.
So, here is my thought. The scam is one Heather is running.
Heather? Colin’s sister? Running scams? NEVER! But maybe?
UGH.
I meant Hannah.
Y’know, I’m thinking it’s Daphne who’ll most likely need Puck’s advice . . .
Puck has no idea. At all.
Sound the air horn in case of distress.
Also, kickin’ (or snappin’) incentive. Happy Halloween, man.
Incentive is old, but still kinda fun.
I bet if Puck sees the blind girls biker boyfriend picking her up she’ll realize why Daphne and her get on so well.
That might or might not make her happier.
Puck doesn’t have the whole picture. Yet.
Good. What fun would that be?
Parents, (or almost parents) seldom do!
Also, re, my comments on the last comic…if Hannah is there to see Daphne, just what sort of scheme have they got going on that’d make that work?
Why must there be a scheme? Why so suspicious?
Have you met Daphne?
With regard to your art, almost all artists feel that way. If you haven’t heard ‘Acts of Creation’, by Cat Faber, you should see about giving it a listen.
I have not. But sounds interesting.
Some artists don’t suffer from this. Only the stinky artists do.
I think my art stinks too.
Is it wrong to think Daphne looks adorable cosplaying Wednesday?
I pity Puck when she hears Daphne screaming instead.
Daphne and Hannah make quite a duo. Happy Guy Fawkes Day! Be careful with your fireworks! 🙂
When you have Daphne and Hannah in the room, you don’t need fireworks!
