NEW YEAR!!! NEW INCENTIVE PIC!!!
VOTE TO CURE THEM JANUARY BLAHS!!!
As for this comic…
Nice to have Phoebe back in the comic. Feels like it’s been a while. And for the longest time I had to draw her in that dumb Velma outfit. Now she’s back in classic form and all is right with the world.
No. I was in error, maybe, about the game having suddenly become evenly matched. Unless Hannah’s Achille’s heel is hearing about the exploits of young Miss Daphne on the grounds of McNiven’s university.
Nothing will make this chess game evenly matched.
A most dangerous meeting of the snark.
Phoebe is not being snarky here. She’s just observing a given fact!
If she’s not being a snark, then perhaps she’s being a boojum?
Snark through and through.
“Snark and Venom”
Nailed it.
Phoebe is nothing if not observant.
I think ANYBODY with even a modicum of intelligence can see that after spending ten minutes of Daphne in Daphne mode.
Sounds like a 1980s “Buddy-Cop”, B-list, straight-to-video movie that you find in the clearance aisle at the dollar store…
Tango and Cash. Snark and Venom. Venom would definitely be played by Stallone.
“Daphne’s Aunt Phoebe.” What a thing to claim!
Well, it’s a bold simplification, but things are a little too complex for clean explanations in this household.
I didn’t think anybody would see the two of them and say, “She looks just like you!” Not a problem with Hanna—come to think of it, does she even know Daphne is kind of fuzzy?
Hannah may not know this. It’s not the kind of thing that comes up in polite conversation.
Ultimate job security. Who else would even try? (Sure, Colin’s got a sister, but she’s got other things to be doing).
Colin’s more of an Uncle Colin. Or a Big Nerdy Brother.
HA! Loveit. Even the alliteration. But isn’t that teens in general?
Phoebs, that’s a bit much. Poor Daphne. 🙂
That IS teens in general. Sometimes.
I admit it being a while.
“Real isn’t how you are made… It’s a thing that happens to you. When a teen is snarky for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY snarky, then they become real”.
Like a nasty version of Pinocchio. Even nastier than that live action remake.
Leave it to Satan’s daughter to know where the sensitive topics are. What’s hysterical is that she doesn’t even really mean it that way, shes just Phoebe.
Phoebe is incapable of nastiness. She is only capable of honesty.
But is she capeable of discression?
In the last panel, Phoebe describes Daphne perfectly. LOL.
Only honesty here. And nice to see you in the comments again!
Methinks Hannah will now have a greater appreciation of her family. Daphne’s rather does put the ‘function’ in dysfunctional! And in fairness, the ‘fun’ in dysfunctional. Hmmm, how much further can I take this . . . . did you know that ‘dysfunctional’ rearranged is ‘found scantily’? Phoebe, right there! ‘Scotland unify’ could work for Puck . . . ‘Colin snafu ytd’ for Colin . . . Tyler is ‘stoic funny lad.” Miranda, as the future Empress of Earth, is “Lady Functions.” Daphne . . . .Cold Fanny Suit?
You have put far too much into this. But I appreciate your quixotic effort.
As Leslie Charteris says, there are worse madnesses than Don Quixote’s!
Does Phoebe put the Dys in Dysfunction?
No, she puts the fun.
Too bad. Dys was the city of the demons in the Divine Comedy.
Daphne’s got a lot going well for her right now. Loving caring parents, who give her enough space to get up to no good, and reap what she sows, but not die. A hot aunt who is for reasons unknown, still single. An adorable baby sister, with whom she can bond and teach her wily ways. An affectionate boyfriend who’s parents are, tragically, academics. And she’s making friends with schoolmates from upper middle class homes.
Excellent.
Well, things gotta go right for the cast some of the time. Especially in the lulls between crises.
Phoebe is indeed being Phoebe, and so this encounter with Daphne is setting off sparks, owing to the friction between their personalities. I think Hannah can cope with it. She’s experienced and self-confident enough.
You read these things well.
@EG Thanks! I’m glad I’m not clueless. 🙂
