PHOEBRUARY RETURNS!!!
Every few days I’ll upload a different classic Phoebe February pic. There’s been a lot of them.
VOTE TO SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PHOEBE!!!
As for this comic…
Sometimes I just submit to my desire to tell jokes that only a certain demographic will ever get. And now is one of those times. I think it’s fine, though, seeing as my readership seems to be entirely made up of people over the age of fifty anymore. Not sure what that’s about. Probably something to do with refined, mature tastes.
Nah, get the city free high speed internet with free Hulu subscriptions. Cheaper in the long run.
That’s efficient evil, not old school evil. Doesn’t have the same feeling.
No Hulu in Canada. It would have to be Disney Plus.
*Shudder* Now that’s EVIL.
What city is that then?
I’m only 43, so, not everyone.
42… and it did take me a moment to remember that Scott Bakula was the captain of Star Trek: Enterprise.
I did really enjoy that show; it’s just been a while… also according to wikipedia, he’s been in other things… a LOT of other things…
Look, I don’t exactly have my finger on the pulse of pop culture either, or ever did. I’m cool with that. Means I don’t have to watch 20 different shows every week just because someone else insists I should like it as much as they do.
I always thought that was a Quantum Leap into the future.
Hey, we are all dinosaurs here. It’s not a bad thing. We accept our roles. We can’t overload our old brains with new things.
He even had a cameo on a Geek and Sundry show.
Well, me too. So there’s too of us kids here.
back to the ol’ drawing board Satan.
Next choice: Milton Berle.
Dang Gecko! I vote every time I come by here but I don’t usually check, and today I did – Number 7 on TWC? Have you been there afore?
Yeah, I’ve recently been hovering in the 7-15 range. I think that it has more to do with other people’s scores lowering, sadly. My voting numbers have been pretty consistent. Maybe they found a way to block the bot votes? Not sure.
And congrats!
I appreciate being catered to. Just rewatched the series a year or so ago.
Quantum Leap, Enterprise, or NCIS: New Orleans?
Bakula is a gift that keeps on giving.
Hmmm. I see the potential evil in this, but what’s so evil about building a golden idol of a forgotten American actor? Sounds like Satan is just trying to waste tax payer money. Which isn’t evil. Just reckless.
You’re not thinking old school enough. We’re talking Satan luring the people to worship a golden idol instead of worshipping God here, pretty much the most old school of all evils.
Hehe. Some could say too “old school” for it, but I see your point. That actually pretty clever idea to go with if that’s the case.
Well, it’s better than Dig’em.
The Frog. I dig ‘im.
Well, I think I’m not fifty yet, not even forty actually. But my body is definitely not what it once was, neither is my brain. Certainly feels old and wonky, both of them, on the regular. So who knows, really?
Old is in the mindset.
Isn’t a golden calf good enough anymore?
Calves are just too ‘Old Testament’. Hard to build up a fan base.
Hey, Scott Bakula is awesome. ^_^
… But I doubt a statue of him would receive the adulation the dark one is expecting.
Depends how big it is.
Guilty, as charged.
And I’ve just figured out why Phoebe looks younger every week.
Well, this voting incentive is from seven years ago, so maybe that has something to do with it?
Based on location, wouldn’t Tim Horton be a better graven image? Oh, there is one, over on Ottawa Street, but that one is bronze.
Tim Hortons doesn’t get a lot of love. Might have to do with the fact that his DUI death kind of cast a pall on his legacy. Which is a shame because by all accounts he was a really great guy who just pushed himself to the max.
Now somebody everyone could get behind is,
Richard Dean Anderson.
Dr Jeff Webber, MacGuyver, Nicodemus Legend, Killian Darkwater, Jack O’Neill (2 ells), loves Ice Hockey, fishing (as long as he doesnt catch anything). Got a thing for the Simpsons.
I left the best to last,
Created the Gekko Film Corporation with Michael Greenburg.
Yeah, I know ‘c’ not ‘k’ but it is in the family name ‘Gekkonidae’
It has to be RDA.
Tie this into Phobe and her discovery of a (blind) would be convert aching to be recruited to their cause.
Selling her soul- or renting it- should be interesting; she might replace this slowly failing has been.
Are we amused yet?
I am amused. Don’t know about everyone else, though.
He was a bridge officer in “The Empire Strikes Back” too.
Everywhere I look, it’s Bakula here, Bakula there!
Hey…I resemble that remark.
And one, I first read that as “Scott Baio” (not to skew even older) on my phone. Two, I realized on reading from my laptop, that it actually is “Scott Bakula”, and I’m not sure if i am happy or sad…hmm.
I feel Bakula is the superior model of Scott. But that’s just me.
Bakula???
The Horror. The Horror.
Look, I’m sure he’s a fine human being, he has regular features and he remembers to speak his lines.
But his characters all seem like they’re stoned; maybe he’s trying to be thoughtful but it comes off as blank. Compared to Picard and Sisko, Archer seems to have neither an inner life nor relationships outside of the role of command – although TBF I haven’t been able to put up with watching much of Enterprise so maybe at some point he did get beyond the animatronic school of acting.
Which is not to say that he’s probably a nice guy and made lots of money for his employers by reading their scripts. “Quantum Leap” was a lot of fun to watch for the stories, not the characters.
This makes the New Golden Idol perfectly selected, IMO.
The Horror. The Horror.
You are not wrong. Though I do feel he had that ‘endless charisma’ ability that just made you like him.
Eh, I’d rather have James Doohan.
Or Ernie Coombs, or Johnny Wayne and Frank Shuster, and I don’t care most likely don’t recognise the names, they deserve all honour! Make people aware of who they were, what they did, huh.
Maybe have . . . no, Halifax not Hamilton, for Vince Colman.
I’d vote for a statue of one of my long-dead crushes of yesteryear. Maybe Veronica Lake.
All those listed, except Doohan, are on the Canadian Walk of Fame in downtown Toronto. We need to get Jimmy on the list.
I have never been to the Canadian Walk of Fame. Seems … sad? Yeah, sad is the right word.
He was there on D-Day.
Maybe Satan was thinking of Jeremy Renner and he got his wire crossed?
Bakula > Renner.
And I like Renner. But he ain’t no Bakula.
I don’t think he’s plotting and scheming like a plotting schemer. He’s CLEARLY a scheming plotter.
You call a spade a spade.
I’ll admit, I had to google who scott bakula was
Also (this is kinda random): but thoughts on the new Quantum Leap?
Haven’t watched it. Heard bad things. But I do hold out hope.
I would avoid the new “Night Court” too.
That one I’ve seen a few clips of, and … eeeeeeeeesh. A rough watch.
I don’t know why. I’m diggin’ it. They’ve even nailed the late-80’s semi-preachiness.
my mom liked the original and she likes the new one
(she also liked the end of the original and i’ve heard it was pretty dividing sooo take that as you will i guess)
I can see why it was divisive. Honestly, I like the idea that Christine is a woman who can’t be pinned down. If you want her, you have to go after HER. It felt true to her character.
But having Dan do the chasing after Harry decides he wants to stay home, doesn’t really end that story but rather change it. I didn’t mind that, it felt true to those characters too. But some people are sticklers for closure.
Statue of John Candy.
Also Happy Valentine’s Day Massacre Day
Ah, an Enterprise fan. Good man. If Sigmund wasn’t there, he wouldn’t get anything done.
I don’t think he gets anything done even when Sigmund IS there.
Ahhhh. I see.
Hehe. Some could say too “old school” for it, but I see your point. That actually pretty clever idea to go with if that’s the case.
On an old cartoon show, “God, the Devil, and Bob” (which I liked, but, apparently, no one else did), the Devil suggest they do something so evil, so obnoxious, that it would offend even him. His assistant suggested, “Tony Danza on Broadway?”
Well, he actually accomplished that, and starring in “The Producers,” yet. That’s a hard thing for Satan here to top.
I’d see Tony Danza on Broadway. I’d pay good money too! Well, not good money, but some money.
Re the voting incentive, kind of and kind of not a Casino Royale intro reference . . .
I don’t even remember the intro. I’m assuming it had sexy dames in it.

Scot Bakula?!? (swoons) that would work.
Hey, if it makes you feel any better, you should know:
1. I am a major-league trekkie, and thus know of Scott Bakula.
2. While it’s not wise to give out your age on the internet, I can tell you the number still starts with a one. So you do have *some* pull with the youth.
What? A real live YOUNG PERSON?!? I feel so honored! I thought it was only aging tech-savvy boomers whom I could rope in!
