NOUNS ARE BACK!!! REVENGE OF THE NOUNS!!!
Over on Patreon, my top-tier patrons suggested nouns and we had a big battle royale between them, with the victors getting the most votes … and here are some of those glorious nouns in picture form.
As for this comic…
This one took forever and a day to make. Not sure why. I guess it just comes down to the number of characters per panel. But boy am I tired.
For the record, I am a big Macaulay Culkin fan and quite enjoy the wry, ironic online presence that he’s developed over the past decade. Every time he appears in any Red Letter Media videos, my world becomes a slightly better place.
On another front, it appears that Satan is a big A Tribe Called Quest fan. Because Q-Tip already told us all about industry rule #4080.
Is THAT what he means by . . . oh my god. I guess the world’s made a good deal of progress if evil’s reduced to . . . this.
I didn’t say it was GOOD progress.
Evil is never reduced. It just transmutes and transfers.
Begging to not have a toe cut off? He is at a low ebb. All the better to rise I guess.
Gotta be brought low before you rise again, right?
Story-writing 101
You can’t blame John Hughes for his financial acumen. Who is going to see some guy missing toes? Outside of a podiatrist anyway.
John Hughes taught us all so much. But not this.
Balance may be an issue. Aren’t Satans feet… cloven?
Not in this universe. Just regular gross feet.
EG, your efforts are sincerely appreciated. I liked everything in thus strip from the expressions and body language (especially Miranda’s- she seems to understand this conversation more than you’d think.) to the Satan’s background conversation. I knew something was up in panel three! Good strip.
Well, I thank you for the vote of confidence. If someone likes the results, it’s worth it.
Give ’em a toe and they’ll take a foot.
Nah, taking a foot usually impacts the debtor’s ability to obtain more money to pay back the loan. The next step is TWO toes.
Eventually it’ll cost an arm and a leg.
I guess on the fourth step is to take the six that are left.
Macaulay’s true “Michael Alig” persona finally emerges.
None of us are surprised.
So, Home Alone was a documentary. “This is what I did before I hit puberty. Think about what I can do now!”
Precisely.
Well, many theorize the Kevin McCallister grew up to become Jigsaw.
I knew long ago that only Elijah Wood turned in a performance in THE GOOD SON. Culkin was just being himself. You gotta wonder what he had on Mila Kunis for her to have stayed with him so long.
(THE GOOD SON is an underrated gem, imho. One of the better of the evil children genre.)
The evil children genre is an underrated genre in general.
Noun Adventure – Who knew the sweet little Coppertone girl would have turned out so…. so…. toned! Makes me wonder what the Nouns would with the Morton Salt girl or the Little Debbie chick.
I, too, thought Satan had cloven hoofs, albeit hidden within very stylish oxfords.
Nah, we’ve seen him wearing sandals in this arc.
Well, he is the Great Deceiver as it written… 😉
For Macaulay, it all started back when they were filming Home Alone and Joe Pesci (I’m sensing a theme here) bit his finger. He still has that scar.
Joe Pesci has also been mentioned in this comic before. Feeling a pattern here…
Even Daphne gets into the frame (in the form of a portrait!)
Only Colin is missing, and he’s probably just as happy not to be present.
I can’t max out every primary character in a frame at once. It’s just too much. Colin and Daphne can enter later.
oh certainly. Panels 1 and 4 are packed most efficiently as it is, with Phoebe sitting on the arm of the couch and Satan in the 2nd row.
Panels 3+4 use overlapping word balloons very effectively! Also notable is the smaller font for Satan’s background conversation in Panel 3, and Tracee’s punchline in Panel 4. There’s a lot of technique in looking effortless.
Toes? I thought he had hooves. :p
A hoof is a toe or two or three toes fused together.
I just noticed Tracee still has mud on her legs. Oh well, Puck has only crappy furniture anyway. 🙁
