Characters: Colin, Papa Shnorf
VOTE FOR PUCK ON TWC AND GET INSPIRED!
Happy New Year! If you want to start 2016 right, you’ll want to see Puck’s motivational poster. (Yes, it’s inspired by Rosie the Riveter, but the message has been considerably improved. Words to live by!)
VOTE TO FEEL THE OVERWHELMING POWER OF DEMOCRACY RUN THROUGH YOUR VEINS!
As for this comic…
If you must needs touch a strange man’s rear, is it more or less disturbing to know that said man is wearing a big, soft mascot costume? I really can’t say, personally.
That last panel just looks bad in just about any situation. At least the eyes aren’t animatronic.
Not by design at all. At all.
Any chance that Pappa Schnorf is Bea Arthur?
Zero.
Awwwwwwww…. heh.
i hear ed asner’s voice for papa schnorf.
I think Papa Shnorf is a scrawny teen boy, actually, but more on that later.
Are we sure there’s a male in there…?
Taking the last comment out of context will probably result in people staring confused and/or grossed out at you.
I can live with that.
I found it funny how Daphne’s shirt in the voting incentive said ‘Not a sexy elf shirt’. It fits her.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas EG and I hope you’ll have a happy new year (or, at the very least, survive another 366 days!)
I only ever aim to survive. If I manage anything more, I’m pleasantly surprised.
I suppose the next move could be Colin being arrested for picking Papa Schnorf’s pocket.
I think Papa Shnorf isn’t that evil. He’s a force for good. He fathered the glorious Shnorfs after all!
I suspect paternity suits…
The DNA results were inconclusive!
Your brothers’ comic has no comment section.
He’s going to miss out on a lot of interactions.
Also, his comic about the 5 donuts versus the 6 for taxes; is that a real Canada thing?
Over here, if you pick a crumb up off the floor and try to eat it the government wants half of it.
That’s a real Canada thing. There’s some weird law that ‘meals’ under five bucks are tax-free in some kind of ‘take pity on the poor’ clause. The real motivator is that it’s a fast food money-making incentive that McDonald’s and Tim Hortons campaign actively to maintain.
He has a rather hefty amount of idiomatically Canadian humor on his site. He’s more straight up about it than I. I try to slip the Canadian bits in around the edges of the comic, but keep the main content friendly to Americans. Which leads to a bunch of readers being shocked when they find out that the comic isn’t set in the U.S. but whatevs.
As I recall, the law is about quantity sold. Six or more will presumably be eaten later, and five or fewer is likely going to be eaten right away. At least, that is the “reasoning” that I recall.
Do any gluttons want to challenge the law?
I think it’s cost. Five bucks is the max. And gluttons will never win a tax exemption. Taxation only goes one way: up.
I just read all of The Fat Bassist comics and they all had a place to post comments Mahnarch. Down at the bottom on the right side hilighted in red. Its pretty funny, and Im not just saying that because Im Canadian
But being Canadian certainly helps!
Guess I didn’t notice. The comment link doesn’t really hit you in the face.
Thanks for the heads up!
I love how you placed Daphne in the vote incentive. it’s just so… Daphne!
Yeah, even for voting incentives, I don’t really like to break character. And there would be no way Daphne would take part in anything like this.
Ew, better you than me, Colin
Yeah, no one would want to do this. (Mind you, I say that knowing that there’s one weirdo out there in the universe who totally would.)
Until now, I always assumed any reference to a big green guy would concern The Hulk, although I suppose a DC fan would think of Martian Manhunter, and a few others may think of the Jolly Green Giant. Truly Papa Schnorf is in illustrious company!
I don’t want to touch the rear end of ANY of the above listed big green guys. It can’t end well. (Though for the record, Martian Manhunter is pretty cute.)
Well, Martian Manhunter can shape-shift…
There’s a lot of stories about shape-shifters and gender confusion that, for some reason, mainstream comics pass by. Well, actually, “Runaways” did it and it was kind of a charming solution to a romantic/political entanglement. So never mind.

I’m kind of “meh” on the “hurt people” incentive. I don’t like to criticize, but Puck’s frequent (at one time) threats to hurt people were funny because they were absurd. A little bit of shock makes a lot of humor. Anyway, she would not look good in orange at all (…unless Canada puts their prisoners in Kelly Green – that might be kinda hot actually…).
case in point, Loki is the mother of Odin’s steed, Sleipnir, an 8-legged horse, at least in Norse mythology, i dunno how faithful Marvel are to that
And a monster snake that encircles the Earth, and a giant god-eating wolf, and a goddess who’s half woman, half corpse. Ain’t much of that in Marvel. The original Loki was metal as f#$%.
Needs one more thought balloon.
“…And that one weird dream about The Hulk when you were 13 doesn’t count!”
This strip feels like it needs the Takei “Oh my!”
It does. It really does.
I admire how focused, organized and goel-oriented Papa Shnorf is. ^_^
He really is a fine asset.
That is just not punny.
Why not have a Puck vote or guest comic devoted to the Jim Carrey movie Liar Liar.
The comedy remains on point as usual, Geck. I love that last panel 🙂
If I can land anything, I’m happy!
