It’s a DISNEY KIND OF AUGUST!
We’ve done Disney villains before, but we’re doing more heroic characters this time. The patrons threw down some suggestions, and you’ll see the results in the coming weeks!
VOTE TO PUT THE MAGIC BACK IN THE KINGDOM!!!
As for this comic…
This is playing out like a bad dream. Not like a nightmare, but like one of those anxiety-inducing dreams, like, “Dude, I dreamt I went into a store, and then this pushy girl in a Pikachu hat came in and asked who was in charge, and suddenly I was in charge of the store, and I was like, WHOA!”
Yay more Emily!
This is escalating quickly; for some reason I have a feeling that’s common around our newest character.
Yes, new character is an escalator. Without that moving hand rail.
Emily, assistant manager just for the coffee discounts.
She’s just a regular who knows the lay of the land. Which is sometimes even better than an assistant manager.
Colin is not particularly good at acting, is he?
Actually..l who would be in that situation?
I would probably just seize up as I try to process what just happened.
Then probably tell the truth and question as to WHY Cy would run from this girl, and depending on her answer, question her decisions in life which let to Cy having this reaction to her.
That’s if she’s in the wrong of course, Cy could have wronged her. We’ll see.
We WILL see. There might not be any wronging involved. It may just be a ‘better avoided’ situation.
What could go wrong?
—
Emily’s ability to communicate without words is catlike (I meant to comment last week’s Panel 2 and Panel 4 use of the eyes was (were?) especially amusing)
—
And … once again Colin finds himself the target of cruel Fate, delivered through the persons of two women!

I enjoy writing Emily. And drawing Emily. A fun character. I don’t think she’ll be promoted any time soon to a main cast member, but she’s fun to have around as a little bit of spice added to the overall dish.
What an adorable and curious Pikachu fan girl…very questionable how she is a fan of the owner of the show.
Well, obsessive fans sometimes get obsessive in general. So watch out.
where’s a bulldog when you need one?
Or a Snubbull.
“Did I see Cy? Er, so, who are you?”
“Sue.”
“And, you need to see Cy?”
“Cee.”
“Why?”
“I sew for him.”
I si what you did.
I cannot improve upon this perfection.
re: Incentive. At least it’s not Alf. He looks kinda like Tony the Tiger from the ads. (Put a tiger in your tank.)
re: Comic. Creamsicle girl is the better bet to run the store, but she threw Colin under the bus. Bad creamsicle girl!
‘Tiger in you tank’ tiger was a different tiger, I think. Wasn’t that Esso?
But Emily is throwing Colin under the bus because this Pikachu girl knows her and knows she doesn’t work there. The ruse would be less effective.
Gasoline, frosted flakes … c’mon, they’re practically the same thing.
They both will power you through the morning, certainly.
I originally thought she was hugging Tigger…
Or Shere Khan (Noonian Singh [which is the actual word for “lion” or “tiger”])…
Stuffy is based on Rajah (from Aladdin) but Rajah is very close to Shere Khan in design.
Aww, come on. She tipped Cy off to the code yellow, so she still needs to be on the lookout for him. It’s hard to see those little people (pipple) unless you’re looking.
Is “running the store” within his skill set?
Why not. Especially when he can posit the answer in the form of a question.
Next, see Colin take on Ken, James and Brad.
Definitely not.
The yellow highlight in the text balloon is obviously an indication of a very annoying tone of voice. Think Fran Dresler on helium.
That might be accurate. Definitely not a pleasant voice.
Helium or Wasabi?
Whatever they gave people for that go’a’uld voice.
Lucky tiger!
It’s the luck of the Tigrish!
“Because . . . I often talk that way?”
Colin, digging his grave deeper, which most in that situation would.
Hey, if you’ve got a shovel, you dig deeper. Cuz that’s all you can do with a shovel.
You can cook bacon sandwiches.

I’d like to spend my Arabian nights with Phoebe. Hummina, Hummina, Hummina!
Don’t get me singing that song…
Is Emily really a catgirl or just obsessed with cosplay? Either way, it’s good to see her more frequent appearances.
Emily is a regular human girl who just has a thing for dressing as a cat. We won’t ask too many questions.
We also don’t judge.
We appreciate…
Looks like Colin’s going to have to learn how to start slinging coffee real quick!
You know, I always did wonder how a change of store would have impacted the plot trajectory of CLERKS. What if it was a comics and collectibles store and featured Colin and Emily, the cat girl?
Hmmmmmmmm…..
The magic would be lost, surely.
I suspect the magic will be lost when Clerks 3 debuts this fall.
He doesn’t have to do it well.
Fun background. A lot to enjoy there EG. I don’t think I have ever noticed a stuffed Appa before and is that Lion-o’s sword from Thundercats?
It is Lion-o’s sword. And yeah, I tried to stuff in some more recent nerd culture elements like Appa.
Q. Why did she answer Colin’s question with a question?
A. Well, why can’t she answer his question with a question? 😉
The nexr comic will be number 666. I wonder how demonic it might be!
It won’t be. At all. Phoebe won’t even be in it!
Whew! It worked! I’m safe. He’s a lost cause anyway.
I’m half-wondering if she’s one of his students who doesn’t recognized him because of the lack of beard.
Emily is in university, I think, so no. She’s older than Daphne and Tyler by quite a bit.
I think Frank was talking about Yellow Girl being one of Colin’s high school students, or at least attends the same school where he teaches.
Sorry, I’d meant Picachu being one of Colin’s students. He didn’t recognize her either, so I guess that’s a no.
Pikachu is also older than high school. I guarantee.
Former student? But O.K. I’m off that anyway. It was a fun notion, but I’m over it.
Ah, that helps to know! I had read her as being fairly young, probably due to the costume, but if she’s an adult that’s definitely changes the direction of the story. Is she a Cy fan? an ex? or just annoying?
Cy is obviously used to and supportive of every kind of nerdliness, so this can’t be that, can it?
“He went out for smokes and hasn’t come back since. Kinda like my dad, come to think of it.”
Also: “Because this is how I talk?”
It’s called California up-talk. All the cool kids are doing it. Did do it. In 1986.
Now they’re doing vocal fry.
Love all the nerd references! I thought I was the only one who liked wheeled warriors!
The “Greta Thunberg” of Comic Book stores has arrived.
Feed her to the Monkey Bears before it is too late….
Not a bad moniker.
Tiny girl compensates with the force of her personality!
There’s some rule of life hidden there. I’ve observed that if there’s a tall cop and a short cop, the small one tends to be more aggressive like he’s got something to prove. Proceed with caution.
It’s the tiny ones you gotta watch.
