Well, here it is: the beginning of the end. This strip starts the last storyline of the original run, which ultimately concludes at strip #80. I know that eighty strips may seem a small number, and looking back on it, I suppose it is.
The strip ended when I graduated from university. There was a certain natural closure there.
So here we have Puck wrestling with the big question about university life: is it really worth it? And trust me: I wrestled with this same question all too often. Suffice it to say that I didn’t particularly enjoy university. Still, there were parts I liked, and I’m glad I went. The part of university that I liked the most was probably Puck.
I’m also glad that I eventually graduated.
She’s either a) having an existential crises, b) suffering from ennui, or c) realized she’s dating a guy who has a child cram cheese doodles into his mouth while playing video games. Possibly d) all of the above.
They tend to go hand in hand.
Puck seems to feel that her life has no meaning.
Because it doesn’t!
Well, that, and these kinds of crises tend to strike in the middle of the night just before going to bed. My emotional defenses are lowered in preparation for sleep… and the existential crises POUNCE. And, of course, I need to share the misery until my (now-ex-) girlfriend either talked me through it or smothered me with a pillow.
This does NOT happen for me. But it does happen to my wife all the time, and I relate to Colin. Why do the crises need to form after we’ve gotten into bed? Why? Why not two hours earlier, when we were just sitting around and wasting time? Oh well. The mind is never a logical thing, I suppose.
Puck, you’re immortal. You don’t have years to waste.
Well, she does. She just has more of them.
I love watching other immortals have existential crises, as long as it’s not me it’s amusing.
Agreed.
Comedy is when it happens to you; tragedy is when it happens to me.
Colin: “Keep ranting nonsense while I’m trying to sleep, and I’ll solve that “waking up tomorrow” problem for you!”
(That was out of character, wasn’t it. Lemme fix:)
Puck: “………………..ExCUSE me?”
Colin: “Er… don’tmindmerandomsleeptalkingIloveyoudarlingpleasedon’thurtme!”
