For a strip that actually just features two characters talking, this strip was the single most laborious experience I’ve had since restarting Puck. The backgrounds had something to do with that.
My wife think that Daphne looks very 1987, but I had to reassure her that 1987 has, in many ways, returned in the realm of teen fashion. (I know this. I’m a high school teacher.) Tight jeans? Check. Ripped knees? Check. Bright colours? Check. The pink Chuck Taylors are my own personal touch.
That’s some fine wooden flooring, there.
Just sayin’.
The vector for the wood floor is so huge and so complicated that it’s often slowed or crashed Draw on me. I generated it as a flat surface then warp it to match each scene’s perspective lines.
Duct Tape on the Lazy-Boy. Nice touch !
It’s a nice touch that I often consistently forget to add in coming comics, then need to go back and fix it in post. But I thought it suited them.
God if I ever talk to any adult like this my mom would smack me so hard I wouldn’t Be able to see for a week
Well, that means you have a responsible mother. Unlike Daphne.
Daphne’s grown up a bit since this strip, especially in the chest area…
I pretty much totally changed Daphne’s model by around strip #143 or so. I’d initially imagined her as a slightly gawky, awkward early teen, but I found that it didn’t exactly work with the bravado of the character. I aged her up to around 15 or 16 or so, and she’s remained there ever since. Her face, however, has been in a constant state of flux from the early model in an attempt to get her looking less weird. The prominence of her muzzle’s been reduced, she’s grown an upper lip, and I’ve given up on most attempts to suggest fur.
On the plus side, Puck’s breasts have become slightly larger. Either that, or it’s the outfit.
No, it’s not the outfit. They have. And there’s a reason! Kind of!
And people wonder why I dislike Daffy
She’s lovably prickly?
Calling somebody who feeds an shelters you an “ancient, ugly, saggy hag” is lovable?
It’s all in how you say it: the delivery.
It’s also softened by the fact that (beside the ‘ancient’ part), the rest of it is clearly not true.
Yeah, but I don’t know a woman who would take it that way
