This week I’m profiling yet another webcomic you really should check out. Frivolesque is the sort of comic you might really like if you’re into Puck. It’s a Canadian comic with a mostly female cast, some of whom have unusual origins or back stories, and features a prominent ginger lead.
It’s got a crisp anime style and lovingly plays on lots of those old anime tropes, but the characters and stories are fresh and fun. There’s a lot of whimsy in the content, and whimsy is a relatively rare element of storytelling that I really love.
Also, some hack once did a noteworthy guest comic you might want to check out. Just saying.
Go check it out! And tell ’em Gecko sent ya!
Well, that sounds rough on Marie Neighs (why does she neigh, I wonder. Is she a were-horse? Was she scared by a horse when she was just a wee Marie?) Well better her than me. The only pining I around me is for the fjords.
@Susan
Fjords are delicious !
It’s Marie Neige (the French word for snow, because the comic is actually Quebecois). Her symbol is a snowflake. I wouldn’t expect a person from a more southern latitude like you to understand. But it’s this white stuff that falls from the sky when it’s really cold.
*Gotcha!* Whatever. I read twenty-five of those strips.I am glad that you and so many people like it, but for me there are too many characters and too many “in-jokes,” none of them funny to the non-habitue. Nor any inducement I could find to know them better. I’ll stick with Puck
@Susan
I’m glad someone else said it. I just couldn’t get into the swing, either.
To me it’s pretty much Japanese Anime transplanted to Quebec.
Which is not a bad thing !
Aw, that’s why you didn’t stick around…
@OmegaDez
Yeah, you have a fine Comic. I feel pretty bad if I made you feel bad.
Like Susan said, some of us are not Canadian (we bad), and just don’t get it.
It’s not you, it’s us. Really.
Keep On Truckin !
It didn’t make me feel bad. XD
Although I’m really confused. My comic isn’t about being Canadian (not anymore than Puck) so I’m a bit curious about what makes you say that!
And that is why Norwegian Blues pine for them. Nailing them to the perch not allowed.

@Susan
Ahhh……
Nailing the Fjords to a perch would pretty much ruin the sport.

Fjords is Norwegian for MICE, right ?
Well, hailing from Quebec City, I might have a bias, but I love this comic. Cute local anime girls with glasses. That’s all you need.
Agreed. And the Quebec City setting also is a win from me, given the fact that it’s one of my favorite cities.
Took your recommendation and I was totally hooked from the first strip (do they still call them strips). Frivolesque, is freaking awesome.
Glad you liked! I’m glad I was able to spread the Frivo word.
