Self-incrimination: it makes the world go ’round

This is Canada, works similar to England. You get “A Caution”. Miranda is US code to unify the wording and application of arrest warnings. I’d assume that US and Canadian Child Protective Services aren’t quite so scrupulous about warning you about possible entrapment if some of the news items I’ve read are true. Though Colin did the number one boob by volunteering info. Name, rank and serial number, only reveal anything to Puck to escape dismemberment.
She’s not a cop. He hasn’t been arrested. This is (as they like to say) a ‘friendly chat’, and it’s all about coaxing incriminating stuff to the surface.

Heh, “friendly chat” and then Puck walks in looking like a Trailer Court Queen with a black eye… This could escalate quickly. Thoroughly enjoying the story arc!

Short answer? NO.
Isn’t Colin a teacher? Now he has a *great* example for his students of that old saying about remaining silent and thought a fool being better than speaking up and removing all doubt.
Oh, teachers no longer impart real wisdom to students. That’s apparently no longer pedagogically sound and has fallen out of fashion, just like encouraging students to develop honesty, integrity and a work ethic.
Had a sudden flash sideways to the current state of the British Education System …
Here in America it’s all about “teaching to the test”. The idea is that if a teacher doesn’t teach students to pass a standardized test, then the teacher is doing a bad job and might ultimately get fired. If the whole school doesn’t get good scores on standardized test, it might get shut down in some places.
So things like civics, time management and anything actually useful in real life or perhaps conducive to informed citizenship has to be ignored in favor of memorizing and drilling the ability to fill in scoring dots.
Up here in Canada, it’s a little different. Here they say “Let their life blossoms shine and bloom in a thousand colors; let students explore what it means to be them,” and then they ignore the fact that universities and workplaces are screaming that these kids (a) don’t know much, and (b) lack the work ethic to do much of anything. It’s all about the middle path, man. I never understand why people can’t see that. Too ‘teach to the test’ conservative, and you end up with a robotic, inhuman, soul-sucking machine of a system. Too ‘life blossom-nurturing’ liberal, though, can be equally destructive.
A balance is good. But a balance is hard, and takes actual thinking to manage, which is why no one ever tries for that.
Doesn’t anyone have anything better to do than watch Colin dig a hole for himself so deep he’ll never get out?

Of course, if he were smart, he probably wouldn’t have married Puck in the first place, let alone gotten her pregnant.

True, but after ten years they are considered to be in a common-law relationship, which (as I understand it) is marriage except without a wedding and registration as a married couple. Basically, he and Puck are within a civil union. What impresses me is how he refers to Daphne as “one of my children.” I rather doubt Daphne considers Colin her stepfather or her guardian . . . maybe something like a cross between an idiot older cousin and the straight man in a comedy routine . . .

I don’t give a fu¢@ what anyone says about this “common law” bulls#!T. Common law IS NOT MARRIAGE!!!!!!!!! Marriage is something that two people enter into knowingly and willingly. “Common law”= the State forcing it’s will on people. Common law IS NOT MARRIAGE!!!!!
Well, he never really married her. He just got her pregnant. Though that still qualifies as potentially very stupid on the stupid scale.
In fairness to Colin (yes, I just wrote that), she’s just as culpable for anyone who remembers whose idea it was and why contraceptives weren’t necessary when it was realised they weren’t within reach. (Hint: Not Colin).
Mind you, Colin still should have said no but then again this is Colin we’re talking about here.

It’s obvious that they’ve been together long enough, judging by Daphne’s growth spurt alone.
I’m not sure if I should be surprised or not that she didn’t know about the public urination part.
And to be honest, the fact that Colin admits to all this (and thus has her write it down) is well… Yeah. Let’s face it. It’s Colin.
I wonder how many people that will get in trouble next week (if we exclude Daphne, Colin, Tyler and possibly Puck… And the social worker…) Um… I’m pretty sure everyone is getting into trouble, more or less (alright, Tyler MIGHT be innocent. Might).
Public Urination gets a terrifying number of otherwise innocent people onto Sex Offender Registries, with all the resultant government-enforced homelessness and unemployment.
We nails need to stop giving law enforcers more hammers. They can already arrest any one of us they like and decide a reason why later.

A) go through as is, if the flags were fairly false.
B) take some minor language censorship, to bring it down to the PG-13ish levels he prefers.
C) toss the entire post in the dumpster and set it on fire.
(I’ve been known to trigger type B now and then. I’m not a hateful or hostile poster, but sometimes I tell the jokes meant for the bar while we’re visiting your mom’s place for Thanksgiving.)

Every week I dutifully read the comic and then immediately click the vote picture and vote.
How come we’re not winning?
One of the higher comics doesn’t even really advertise his voting, nor does he (assuming it’s a he) have incentives.
Hmm, I smell trickery afoot.
I’m not going to name names, make accusations or anything like that, but … yes, trickery is afoot. There was always trickery afoot, but now it’s more afoot than ever, I’d say. I won’t resort to it personally because I just won’t, but recently one comic shot up a huge number of places to get into the top twenty, well above me, overnight. And said comic hasn’t updated since November. (Said comic graciously removed itself from the listin the following days, which I guess is sporting. I guess.)
The bots are coming, and they’re really messing things up. The numbers keep climbing. Last month, I had a record number of votes for Puck – higher than I’ve ever had before, by a long shot. And for my trouble, I ended up barely holding onto a place in the top twenty. Last year, that number of votes would have put me easily into the top ten. But not now. Vote inflation, anyone? Just like a real economy.
There’s only so many people I can beat up with a baseball bat while also voting given some sort of repetitive strain injury I’ve managed to induce. Anyway, our crack … ed team of special investigators are on the case – and busting some heads. Metaphor or for real? You decide.

Well, it’s been over half a year. I started this current story arc last summer, when it was seasonal.
“It seems like we’ve been in jail for months.”
“That’s just the fourth wall, closing in.”

SW: “Mr. MacTavish, that is why the park is equipped with family restrooms, like most public places these days.”

He’s a guy. He never actually bothered to figure out what those mystery doors were between the women’s and the men’s rooms.
Miranda is the name of a destroyed personality of the Doom Patrol’s Crazy Jane who has 64 personalities all of whom have superpowers.
