NEW WEEKLY VOTING INCENTIVE! SEE THE METHOD BEHIND THE MADNESS!!! There's a new weekly voting incentive up on TWC! Each week in May, vote to follow along as I reveal both the method and the man behind Puck comics! Watch as I lead you through the many, many steps of drawing some classic Phoebe cheesecake for an upcoming ad. Plus, for the first time ever, you get to see what I look like! It’s not a draw, but I’m making it sound like it is! Marketing!!! CLICK HERE TO MAKE LEARNING FUN! As for the comic… And with that, we bid ‘adieu’ to Papa Shnorf. Will he be back? Maybe. He’d have to fight it out for panel space with all the other neglected tertiary characters like the Hotdog Guy and Tracee. For those who will insist that amusement parks don’t let their mascots take the costume home with them, I say this: Papa Shnorf is a very special exception to the rule. Just trust me on that.

  • I think I’d actually pay to see Papa Shnorf fight Hotdog Guy.

  • maybe Papa Shnorf _IS_ Hotdog Guy! Think about it…

  • SalemCat

    Is Tammy, Tracee’s Half-Sister ?

    She’s purty enough.

    • ElectricGecko

No. Totally unrelated. Though your definition of purty tells me that you like your girls on the decidedly pneumatic side.

      • Sandia

Hey, hey, Tracee is pretty, it just so happens that it’s only external.

        • ElectricGecko

I don’t know. I, for one, find evil inherently kind of attractive.

          • Rock

Maybe your body has been bombarded with so many evil particles over the years that the stuff is now gravitating to larger masses of evil? You might want to take a purgative. 😉

    • David Nuttall

Well, both are drawn by the same artist, so that might help make them look similar.

      • SalemCat

        Hmmn… That makes sense.

        Hadn’t thot of that.

(but since my brain is roughly the size of a walnut there may be many things I’ve not thought of)

  • Usually the hero just rides off into the sunset on his horse. Papa Shnorf did better.

  • There’s a saying amongst musicians “It’s always a good gig when the drummer gets laid.” I think the takeaway here is “It’s always a good trip to the amusement park when he mascot gets laid.”

    • ElectricGecko

Why the drummer? Is it just that the drummer is usually the ugliest (and least likely to get chosen) candidate, thereby providing a useful benchmark for the outrageous success of the gig? Like, “Even John got some! We must’ve rocked!”

    • Typeminer

As the old koan teaches: What should you do when a drummer rings your doorbell?

Pay him for the pizza. 🙂

  • Percussion of posterior is only objectionable if the posterior’s owner objects thereto – and I assume Tammy’s okay with it. ^_^

    • ElectricGecko

I assume so as well, though guys who perform percussion on posteriors in public places, even when the girls are okay with it, are a certain type of guy. Papa Shnorf is one.

  • Kaiser

I’m not gonna trust you on him being an exception, but hell, I can live with it.
And bye-bye Papa Schnorf. You will be missed.
Almost as much as Hot Dog Guy. Almost.
Now I’m curious what Hot Dog Guy will have to say about Puck’s new problems…
I’m curious, will we ever find out if Phoebe borrowed Puck the 19 grand she needs (and has to pay back) or is Phoebe now too hurt to do so? Knowing her, it’s the former!

  • PueyMcCleary

I enjoy Miranda’s expression in the last panel.

“Farewell, Papa Schnorf, and may flights of Schnorves Schnorf thee to thy rest.”

    • ElectricGecko

To Shnorf or not to shnorf: that is the question.

    • Susan Schroeder

      Miranda’s expression echoed my perfectly.
If my bf did that to me, publicly, or even in private, he would soon be my ex-bf. Fortunately he is way too smart to even think about it. I think.

      • ElectricGecko

Well, with this sort of thing, the right reaction face is critical. And for the record, no man is too smart to even think about it. We ALL think about it. The smart ones just don’t act on those thoughts.

  • hernshound

Thank you for that laugh today with Papa Schnorf. I nearly spat my breakfast out! lol

Nice to see that Papa Schnorf is keeping manhood alive in a sea of political correctness!

    • ElectricGecko

He stands as a tall, green island of mid-century cavalier sexism. I’m not sure I’m in support of that, but it’s a thing.

  • Nick Manly

The reason he can go home with it: he’s naked underneath!

  • DLKMusic

Ass Slap and all, I still like Papa Shnorf. Not many people are willing to go out on a limb for someone they don’t know, especially when there’s nothing in it for them.

I agree with Colin… “Prince among Men”

  • Greg White

I hope that they will come back with Miranda when she’s older.

  • pat

    Two questions.
One, since Puck was pregnant, did she get the years paid maternity leave?
Two, have you thought about selling copies of the strips like Hastings does with “Dr. McNinja?”

    • SalemCat

      No checks for Puck.

She wasn’t working before Miranda, won’t be working now, even got fired at her last job as Coffee Wench at Timmy’s Donuts for stealing coffee.

      https://puckcomics.com/?comic=puck-94

She never even spent much quality time with Daphne.

Sorry to say, Puck is pretty lazy.

    • ElectricGecko

I don’t know how Hastings does it, so … no? I know some people sell the original art (because in my case, there IS the original art – on real paper, no less), and while that sounds smart in the short run, I really don’t want to part with it. Besides, it’s pretty plain-looking what with just the line art and stuff. I really don’t think print copies of individual comics would sell. I mean, I already have books that don’t sell, and shirts that don’t sell. I don’t really want to add more products that don’t sell to the ‘don’t sell’ list.

Oh, and SalemCat answered the other question for me.

  • Buggle

Papa Shnorf kind of has a radioactive green glow about him.

    • ElectricGecko

He does. The exact level of radioactivity really depends on the monitor you’re using. (It’s the downside to my use of a pure RGB color scheme.)

      • Salem Cat

Do you use a REAL CRT monitor ?

Honestly, when it comes to color purity, resolution, and the fact they look good from ANY angle, a CRT cannot be beat.

But I dumped mine as well (sigh).

        • ElectricGecko

I don’t use a CRT. I use an LCD. It’s on a CRT that my comics look neon and crazy. And some LCD monitors too. Honestly, I don’t know what the factor is, but when you use pure RBG color, you’re sort of at the mercy of the monitor’s setup as to how your art will turn out. Case in point: Phoebe’s skin color looks really, really different on practically every monitor I’ve ever seen.

  • Salem Cat

I PREDICT: If technology ever figures out a way to utilize some very light resin in place of very heavy glass to form the vacuum envelope, CRT’s may even see a resurgence !

  • Lady Alexis

    … Tammy’s pretty yummy.

  • Jodin

Plot twist: Papa Schnorf is the costume.

    Woah.

  • Looks like my boy Shnorf is going home to unwind after a trying day of playing the hero 😀

    Please bring him back soon.

  • Thisguy

There better be a Abs-y guy under there or I am going to lose it.

  • Buggle

Been going back in time and finding all my old comments, to see if anyone’s replied to them…

    Is that lame?

    • SalemCat

I do that all the time.

      (so yes)

    • ElectricGecko

No. If you DON’T do that, I think you’re abnormal.

      • Buggle

Huh. I guess I’m just kind of used to getting email alerts from everything – I was surprised to discover that people were holding conversations without my getting an email. I guess I shouldn’t be… I kind of wish there was the option to subscribe, tho.

        • Salem Cat

” I kind of wish there was the option to subscribe, tho.”

          That would be SO cool.

And how about 5 minutes to EDIT as well ?

Just want to be clear I realize all this is beyond the Gecko’s control.

          • ElectricGecko

Well, be careful what you wish for. I could use the Jetpack plug-in to give some added functionality to the site. That would allow for people to ‘subscribe’ to comments and get alerted to replies in the same way a page hosted by WordPress does. BUT it’s actually really annoying, from experience. You click ‘subscribe’, then the site sends you a confirmation email, and then you have to confirm through that, and THEN you’re subscribed to get replies … on one comment that you made.

And it carries risks. I clicked that option on a webcomic a year ago, on ONE PAGE, on ONE COMMENT, and I still periodically get spam comments popping into my inbox. My site’s better run than that hopefully, but still…

        • ElectricGecko

I honestly don’t know how the email subscribe system works for comments. It’s not native to WordPress, but you can get some plug-ins that sort of allow that functionality. I’ve never really looked to heavily into them.

          • Buggle

Hmm. I’ll look into that. To be honest, I’ve never really minded getting spammed with alerts, as my inbox is usually empty – I can pretend I actually know people. 🙂

          • Salem Cat

            ” – I can pretend I actually know people. ”

And we know you – you’re NORMAL.

At least the Gecko said so. I’ll bet he even consulted Hot Dog Guy.

Though, he called me NORMAL too, so……

(we must keep in mind we are NORMAL in a world of Devil Girls, Jackal Teens, and Angry Fairies. And then there’s Colin – poor guy)

          • Buggle

“Normal” is subjective. By the rules of this world, lizards secretly ruling the world would probably be normal. (which is an actual thing that some people really believe)

Hold on, Gecko rules that world, as he is its Creator God…

          • ElectricGecko

            Sounds normal to me…

          • Buggle

            Yes… Of course, my lord…

  • SalemCat

Buggle and SalemCat are NORMAL !

    And it feels SO good….

  • Buggle

I hardly ever watch Game Grumps – that was actually supposed to be an impression of one of Markiplier’s segments that I couldn’t fully remember, with a bit of poking at my typical forgetfulness mixed in.

    • ElectricGecko

Markiplier records in the Game Grumps’ office. I’m pretty sure he got that bit from them.

      • Buggle

(sigh) yeah… Not all content is original… but I still like Markiplier better.

        🙁

[Although, the point of the joke was supposed to be that I can’t actually remember stuff I say on here, or what strip it was on, to the point where I have to physically scroll through each of the comments sections looking for them, and therefore I must not perceive reality the same way as a human.]

  • bergerjacques

Looking good, Tammy. Good newa, You get resurrected as a Puck Pin Up in 2025.

  • Frank H.

Isn’t that a tire fire in the distance in pannel 3?
