I went and saw it twice at the cinema. Three times if you count Sunshine.
Yeah….when I watched that movie with some friends we got to the part where they were watching the video logs. And some parts jumped around so fast we weren’t quite sure what we saw there. But we did know it made us very uncomfortable. So we decided it was a good idea to rewind and freeze frame the segment. It wasn’t a good idea. It was, in fact, a very bad idea. People’s bodies aren’t supposed to do those things.
I loved that movie. And yeah, best deadpan ever from Laurence.
Phoebe and Colin can still escape this Event Horizon by going straight to ludicrous speed !!! The best part is, we get to know if this happens if next week’s Puck is nothing but plaid!

Well, Puck’s gone, and Daphne … wouldn’t care? I mean, this provides a little more continuity to the equation than any other option, so maybe she’d be happy. Way better than Colin getting some other new girlfriend who looks like some off-brand Puck.
Daphne wouldn’t care that the recent shattering of her family is due to her playing a dumb prank on Puck, which caused her adoptive mother’s essence to be weakened to the point that she became meat for Tracee?

This reminds me of the last scene of Season 2 (I think?) of The Office, where Jim and Pam finally kiss. I remember immediately afterward running out to blockbuster to buy the Season 3 DVD box set so I could see how it ends. Some of the young folk will read this and say “what is Blockbuster?” The even younger folk will say “what are DVDs?”
I’m old enough to not only know what DVDs are but that it actually was intended to be Digital Versatile Disc, something that entirely failed to catch on …
Actually it started as Digital Video Disk and was later renamed to Versatile, when they realised that you might want to put Data on it too.
Any Windows and many games between Vista and 10 have to be delivered on DVD images. Granted, bootable USB media have mostly replaced it in that segment. And downloads repalced it in the game segment.
But DVD’s are still there.
I know it went Video —-> Versatile because those behind other uses of DVDs didn’t think the term Video represented what they did but it never caught on.
My Human Pet “Baldie” still has his CAPACITIVE VIDEO DISC collection in my attic.
Incredibly, these were nothing more than classic full size VINYL records, only with microfine grooves, encoded with both Audio and Video.
The grooves were so tiny, and so fragile (a speck of dust could be damaging), that the records themselves were stored in a sleeve.
Note in the commercial as the father inserts that sleeve, then removes it. The mechanism inside the player removes the disc, and begins to play the disc.
Ah, best cliffhanger ever. Though the follow-through in season three was predictably anger-inducing. (Not knocking it, of course. Season three of the American ‘Office’ was one of the best comedy show seasons of all time.)

Phoe-Buck is very young compared to Robynn’s “alleged” age, as she is the daughter of Satan and Elizabeth Taylor.
Elizabeth matured very early, but let’s say she had Phoebe at 30 (which in probably late). Thirty would be 1962.
That would make Phoebe FIFTY-FOUR !!
So either Phoebe ages very slowly, or reached a pleasant plateau where she is happy to be (wouldn’t that be nice !).
Either way, Colin adores older women !!
Phoebe’s age is a point that hasn’t been properly explored. But the fact that in this continuity Liz Taylor is an immortal being who remains forever young means that Phoebe could have been born much later. (Actually, on the original Puck website, which dates back to the university days, Phoebe’s age was listed as twenty. So Phoebe’s a year younger than Colin or so. Though again, the official age has never been mentioned in-comic, and it might be something I retcon in the future. Maybe. Or maybe not.
There’s tons of crazy info on that site, including crap I didn’t even know. Like did you know Phoebe’s middle name is Patricia? I DIDN’T! (Well, I guess I did once upon a time, but current me didn’t. It’s … kind of an unfortunate middle name, really.) And Puck’s middle name is Angelica? REALLY? What were you smoking, nineteen year-old me? (Answer: nothing. I would have remembered if I had.)
Ok, it is possible that Satan created an ALT-LIZ, which never aged, while ORIG-LIZ just continued her long, sad journey, which we mere mortals are doomed to follow.
But (I said but – snicker), Phoebe could not work at Howlers unless she was 18 (some states 21 – Canada – unknown).
And in Puck 88, Phoebe confesses to having worked at Howlers “for the past few years”.
Puck 88 was set, at the latest, 2013 (many Puck dates are off by a few years).
So we can add 3 years to 2013, 3 years to explain Phoebe’s “FEW”, and thus Phoebe is 24, anyhow. And maybe up to a decade older.

Webcomic Puck starts in 2011 (ten years after it ended in real time but in comic time, seven years lapse to make it ten years since the START of the series).

So Phoebe has somehow aged less than the others, and grown an inch. I personally think that Phoebe is magically trapped at the age of 29 and can never progress past that. Ever. Daphne is now considerably older (like 16 instead of 14) but the other characters haven’t aged. Except Miranda. Because it seems that about two(ish) years have passed in comic time.
I think my brain is going to explode now too.
Although College Students, in the same class, can be of widely disparate age, commonly they are very similar.
As Robin, Phoebe, and Colin at least seem to have been in the same classes, it stands to reason they are nearly equal in observable ages.
So Colin is one year older than Phoebe ?

Part of me shares your enthusiasm. And part of me wants a return to the old ways. If only because a happy household of loving people is really lousy comedic material.

There’s a part of me that would love to see this comic done more frequently (maybe twice a week?), but the quality of the artwork and the good storylines make it worth the wait. Kudos Gecko!
There’s a HUGE part of me that would love to see this comic done more frequently as well. To manage it, though, I’d have to do the comic full-time, or completely alter how I generate it. (Many webcomic people, for instance, assemble the comic out of pre-drawn, pre-finished components. So I would just have a bunch of pre-drawn Puck heads that I would pop onto a pre-drawn Puck body, and choose a pre-drawn Puck mouth to match the scene. But something in me really doesn’t like that.
For now, this is what we’ve got, I guess.

there are some really good CGI comics done in DAZ 3D, Shan. but to do it right it takes just as much time (both for the sets and the poses) as it does drawing the comic.
I would site something done right in CGI, but I’m hesitant to plug a different comic on EG’s site without his permission.

I’l just say that while I love 3D animation done by big studios, most of the DAZ 3D comics I’ve seen, which are often made using pre-rendered human forms, just get WAY too ‘uncanny valley’ for me. The figures are often trying for a realism that I find slightly creepy. That said, I’m always willing to try a new comic.
Oh, I know there is, it’s just that probably contrary to popular belief, it actually takes a long time to learn how to use it properly and make something that doesn’t look horrible, hence my sudden exit via a window.
Anyway, I’m not shy and webcomics I know of which are good in at least their use of CGI images include WhiteOut, The Androssian Prophecy, and The Great Isle of Prentil.
for my book, the bar for CGI comics is still Data Chasers. the earlier pages had some “Uncanny valley” feel to them (the earliest have actually been redone and look a lot better), but it has progressed magnificently! Also, a lot of detail is spent on the sets, so they look natural and used. You don’t really notice the detail until you see where it is lacking in other comics (the same can be said about the detail in your strip, EG!… that tea pot has been on that shelf forever, and if you took it away, I probably wouldn’t know why, but I would feel like something was… off).
In my book DC is the best out there… Whiteout is really good too, not as much for the character models as the detail of his sets.

Yeah, I tend to agree with you on that though. Puck is definitely the strong Alpha in the relationship, with Colin being a very low Beta.

Thanks. There are just so many fake Irish pubs in this area, I felt they needed to acknowledge their fakeness. Like, fake stone fireplaces and fake old timbers and and fake fuggy atmosphere. In a strip mall. It’s just weird. Is this a thing the world over, or is it just in my neck of the woods?
We have an Auld Dubliner in a shopping center near where I live. Trust me, I think it’s North American, at the very least.
Considering that, just in the USA, there are SEVEN TIMES as many Irish-Americans than there are actual Irish in Ireland, the prevalance of “Irish” Pubs should be expected.
I dunno about world, but… we’ve got them out here in SoCal too! usually planted smack in the middle of an industrial complex.
I’m sure there are still authentic Irish pubs in Ireland… where they celebrate Cinco De Mayo!
Speaking of that, there are lots of fake Mexican restaurants around here too. Canada has few real Mexicans, so most of them are run by a variety of multi-ethnic workers who are united in their overwhelming non-Mexicanness.
I’m assuming that in SoCal the Mexican places are a little more authentic.
At least HOT DOG GUY still serves up authentic Hot Dogs.

The ‘Puck’ legend is sorta kinda Celtic-Gaelic (though the term ‘Puck’ when referring to a mischevious spirit extends across much of Europe) so I guess you could maybe consider Puck real Irish. Maybe. Or real Scottish, perhaps. Or real Welsh. But definitely real something.
A real pain in the a…er…ash? Yeah, pain in the ash tree. That’s it. 🙂

DREAM SEQUENCE DISCUSSION
All Dream Sequences require a Dreamer.
The most famous of all is Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ. Her dream was more of a nightmare, but all along it was clear the Dreamer was her. She hit her head in the beginning, and the dream began.
The only logical candidate here would be Robin herself. Daphne’s SCREAM did not drive the Freckles off, but caused Robin to bump her head – and thus this nightmare began.
What if Robin does wake up from a Dream Sequence, and catches Phoebe and Colin in a Lip-Lock anyhow ?

Puck is many things but not kind. Pre-blond Puck loved Colin, but kindness did not seem to come naturally to her, which lead to a lot of humor but also a pretty serious hole in the relationship.
Phoebe has physical beauty, no lie there, but perhaps it distracts from her greatest asset to a relationship: that she is a caring person.
While Colin deserves, and everyone else.

Did the early strips from the Archives always have so few comments, or were they stripped away when Web Hosts were swapped out ?
Well, the history of Puck as a webcomic is a complex one. It got simpler in 2013 when I started this website independently, but before that, Puck’s first home was on Deviantart. If you look in my gallery there, you’ll see a bunch of comments on a bunch of the early comics. Also, around comic #100, I started up my site on Smackjeeves (which is still in existence but really isn’t updating) and the early comics have some comments there.
So yeah, there’s certainly no migrating of comments from those thoroughly incompatible other sites, so they remain there in their original forms. This site really didn’t ‘turn on’ until around Puck 160(? Not sure about that), at which point the comments start increasing in number.
