This strip was another of the ‘summertime’ strips that appeared in the infrequent monthly summer issues of the Silhouette. I’ve never been really happy with this one. The drawings aren’t too hot, and the joke’s not terribly funny. (I mean, if you think about it, Puck’s in a RESIDENCE. Who the heck cares about a messy kitchen in a residence?) This strip stands as a curio only in the fact that it provides Taylor (aka Tyler) with his only spoken lines in the entire original run. The head editor of the newspaper at the time felt that Taylor was somehow reminiscent of 80’s sitcoms, a la the Cosby Show and such. Perhaps. He wore really dated outfits (even for the time that this was published). Gotta love those Reebok Pumps.

Who cares about a messy kitchen in a residence? The Janitor. After some of the horrors I’ve seen in that type of job, I applaud Puck on falling for the messy kitchen card; it preserves the sanity of many underpaid men and women. :p

I imagined Puck was just responding like she believed a parental sort ought to respond.
In actuality, I’d credit at least 50% of parents with being smart enough not to fall for this sort of poorly thought manipulation.

Back when I was a kid it wasn’t an issue though. My mother was scatterbrained and I have OCD. My mother made a mess of the kitchen and I was the one who cleaned it up.
