Chapter: Junior PromCharacters: Daphne Phoebe PuckTags: danger danger town monogamy
THE BONUS STORY ARC COMIC CONTINUES! PAGE 5 IS OUT NOWWWWWW! After two years of what the movie folks call 'development hell', the Car Wash bonus comic is ready for release! I initially planned this thing to be a print-only comic that would conclude Puck Volume 2, but then Puck Volume Two never really happened due to low (to no) demand, so now I'm putting it as a voting incentive! Yay! Every week will bring a new page, and new pages will be dropping all summer, so please... VOTE TO WASH THAT CAR REAL GOOD!

    What will be next ?

Tune in next week: Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel.

  • Pat

What will Salem say next? Tune in next week, same Puck time, same Puck drama.

What, did you really think that I was going to say channel?

    • SalemCat

      @Pat

For once, I really am at a loss to predict next week’s episode.

Other that, perhaps, the Penguin will cinch an ill-fated deal with the Riddler.

While others (me) hope that CATWOMAN (Julie Newmar), will make an extended cameo.

      😛

      5′ 11″ of HOT

      • ElectricGecko

I’ve gone on record stating that Newmar is one of my bygone crushes. Along with Peggy Lipton. And Caroline Munro. And a bunch of other vintage acrtresses. I dunno, there’s just a certain elegance to that era that I find incredibly attractive.

  • Thisguy

Well, we knew he was a playa…

  • Hm. Can’t say that I’m impressed by Pappa Schnorf’s denial of her agency (who knows, maybe Phoebe would like being in a polycule) but if that’s how he rolls, she’s not going to change him and is probably better off having it cut off now. I can respect him for that.
If he changes his mind, make him crawl on his belly. That would be a lot of crawling!

And … we can count on Puck to be loyal to her few friends!

    • Charcoal

I mean it is possible that polyamory would only end up hurting Phoebe. I’ve been in a number of non-exclusive things where I always had the thought in the back of my head that was like why am I not good enough.

      • ElectricGecko

I am willing to believe that there are a few girls out there who are 100% cool with sharing. But if they exist, they are rare. Most are able to pretend they’re 100% cool with it, but deep down … not so much.

    • ElectricGecko

Phoebe would not be game, I’m fairly certain.

  • You sure that when he says they need to cut it off, he was talking about their relationship?

  • Jo's Reyn

Did Puck just shift into Mother isn’t pleased at all mode??
Someone is so deader than dead!

  • Charcoal

God damn I’ve been Phoebe so many times.

    • ElectricGecko

Really? Huh. I knew guys like this existed but I honestly haven’t encountered many of them IRL. That said, I hang in fairly mild-mannered crowds.

  • jeffepp

FIY, I’ve been having trouble getting to the comic site. A Cloudflair (sp?) page comes up, saying it’s getting a bad handshake to the server.

    • ElectricGecko

My server’s been cutting out, then. Sorry. I have literally no control over it whatsoever. Sometimes my host just starts to suck.

  • We ARE talking about a pot-head who wears a costume for a children’s cartoon for a living.

    It’s a little sad he’s so self-depreciating… but he’s not wrong.

    • ElectricGecko

I wouldn’t say he’s self-depreciating, really. He’s just putting the chips on the table. They’re not good chips, but I’m sure some people take them. And even if they later regret it, he can at least say, “Look, I told you what the chips were.” It’s more passive-aggressive than anything, IMO.

  • Brother Parvus

The cornae around Puck’s and Phoebe’s heads are interesting in their unexpected displacement from where I might expect them to be.

  • Ichneumon

This, um, sounds like a manipulative ploy.

    • ElectricGecko

Yeah, it sounds like that to me too. It won’t work on Phoebe, but there are some girls who will respond to this sort of thing by throwing themselves all in. Like if you say, “You can’t handle my edgy lifestyle,” there are many who will respond with, “Watch me!” Then they end up regretting it horribly.

  • JJR

It looks like he is in riding into the danger zone.

  • Sigurther

Well, douchebag player I may still think he is, but at least he’s honest and forthright about it instead of stringing people along.

  • mermaidan

At least the rat bastard did the right thing. Phoebe needs a great rebound romance.

  • mermaidan

Once again, Puck is the one to go to for support; a friend indeed.

    • ElectricGecko

Puck is very mixed moral bag. But one of her unquestionable virtues is her loyalty.

      • DMC_Run

Nobody knows more shortcuts into “DANGER_TOWN” than Puck!
Puck is the Marble-Flocking MAYOR OF DANGER_TOWN!!!?!
        ( … Drag-Knob this Flickin’ Spill-Chucker!!!?! … )

I guess that makes Daphne her “Deputy Mayor”?

  • ChrisH

Some people just are not monogamous. It’s a fact of life, just like “the birds and the bees.”

  • Rook

Hrmn…Papa just dumped the daughter of his biggest fan, who happens to be Satan. The daughter of Satan/Big Fan is now crying in misery. This does not bode well.

    • ElectricGecko

Well, we will see. I doubt this event will dampen Satan’s love for all things Shnorf. Though it might dampen Phoebe’s tolerance for them.

  • Frank Harr

I’m getting the feeling P.S. has done this rather a lot. Do you get the feeling P.S. has done this rather a lot, ’cause I do.

Oh, and if Puck wants to bring the hurt, I’d be O.K. with that.

Also, how on earth did the teen-aged girl get to be the most conservitivly dressed? Fashion does go in cycles, I guess.

    • ElectricGecko

The teen girl gets to consistently be the most conservatively dressed because I’m a grown man and it feels wrong to do otherwise. Besides, it works for Daphne. She’s not a girly girl.

  • Sok

Just wanted to note I think you nailed the “abject despair” posture in panel 2. I “awwwed” a bit.

  • masterreviewer1000

Danger Town?! Don’t mean that’s the DANGER ZONE?!

  • DLKmusic

This is the Puck we all know and love:

    Robin: “You’re a scumbag!”
Papa Shnorf: “I know, that’s why I’m breaking it off.”
Robin: “How DARE you agree with me, scumbag!” ***POW***

I can sleep easy again knowing that all in the universe is in order

  • mermaidan

I like Miranda’s expression on the incentive pic; she knows that you shouldn’t mess with baby Jesus.

  • LaughingDemon

Love the incentive. It may sound like an appeal to conscience, but meaning I got from it is “I know where you sleep”.
Also, happy Canada Day! I’m a bit rusty, but I believe I’m supposed to tell you to.. hang on.. “Take off”. Did I do that right?
Celebrating south of ya in 3 days, that’s what the explosions will be from. Or not, we’re pretty locked down here too. But, I’m a gamer and an introvert. So these days every day is Tuesday to me.

    • ElectricGecko

Take off? I think that’s some of that dated Canuck lingo from the 1970’s that no one uses anymore. Like I’m not exactly sure the proper usage or meaning. Though I know that the Great Canadian Bear Hugger says it in the Wii version of “Punch-Out!” and that game was developed by a Canadian company. Maybe it’s a west coast thing?

      • LaughingDemon

I think I picked it up from reruns of SCTV. That was from two characters intentionally designed to be Canadian stereotypes because CBC wanted two minutes of “identifiably Canadian content” (also to pad for less commercials).. which was an unusual request to a crew that was mostly Canadian already. So they added a 2-minute segment and laid it on thick.
Personally, I was partially raised on The Red Green Show, so I’d tell ya to “keep your stick on the ice”.. but that seems more appropriate for goodbyes.
For Punch-Out.. he will also call you a hoser. Probably coming from the same mold as the two characters from that show. I have no idea how well that’s held up over there or if it’s in some kinda cult classic status. My dad watched it growing up and said when seeing reruns on TV (TV Land channel in the states had them) that he mostly just remembered the two characters. I.. kinda binged clips on Youtube recently.

        • ElectricGecko

I just watched the Red Letter Media profile of ‘Strange Brew’ and noted that they said “Take off!” in that. Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis said they based the characters around a specific stereotype of a northern Ontario backwoods guy. And Canada is very regional in its slang, which is something you get when you have an enormous country with few people and a ton of wilderness between settlements. So I’m going to trust in Rick and Dave and assume that at some point (like the 1970’s) there were Canadians up Sudbury way who said “Take off!” and called each other “hosers”. But neither term is ever used in my locale.

Bob and Doug’s accent, though, is legitimately valid for northern Ontario. People really do sound like that. It’s like if you took the accent from Wisconsin but you drained all the nasal out of it and really lowered the register.

  • Justin

In the votey where Puck leaves she’s got a good I hate to see you go but I like to watch you walk away look going.

  • ChrisH

I would much rather have the illustrious mayor of Hamilton on my case than Puck on my case- she’s so much scarier.

  • maarvarq

Voting incentive – Baby Jesus and Miranda are keeping an eye on Daph!

  • ChrisH

    @maarvarq, ;)) ;)) ;))

  • Just Sumguy

Say what you will about the guy, he didn’t take advantage of her or lead her on. Phoebe’s clearly gotten over whatever funk that had her refrain from dating for so long. This might be a wake up call that she wants a decent guy in her life of her own.
