  • I am shocked (shocked!) that you would call a teen cynical. Teens are posers. To be truly cynical, ya gotta have seen some sh*t.

(Okay, okay. But Daphne is a bit of an outlier.)

wierd monster if he prefers “Cynical” as his favorite Teen flavor. It’s a well known fact that 9 out of 10 monsters get Heartburn from Cynical teens which is why monster Doctors recommend “Innocent” as a substitute.
Of course, Innocent is a lot harder to find these days, so… Just be careful of the Heartburn, Mr. Monster, and have plenty of Rollaids handy!

This is an incredibly ironic post, but you wouldn’t understand it unless you’re from that area of Canada.
“Eat ’em raw!” is the final line in the famous “Oskee-Wee-Wee” chant that is the “team chant” for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats – the city’s professional Canadian Football League team.

  • maarvarq

“it’s favourite flavour of teen is Cynical!” lol!

  • Frank Harr

    Dude bounces back.

You just know what’s going to happen don’t you? You’re just watching–u-um, reading because seeing it done well is just so much fun, ain’t it?

    Me too!

  • Lokitsu

If it likes cynical teens then its going to LUUUUUVVV Robin!

(Frankly, I think the ‘monster’ is doomed)

  • LaughingDemon

It’s like the regional equivalent of the Bayou Boo-ya? (yes, the ATHF parody of Scooby-Doo). And.. they both probably speak a French-based dialect.. Zoinks! This, like fits too well.

I am relieved TRACEEE is safe and sound back home with Satan.

I fear Spooky Valley will lead to the ulimate annihilation of every last cosplay character, leaving only TRACEEE, Satan, the Monkey-Bears, Sigmund, Hot Dog Guy, Tony and Stan to carry on.

Perhaps “fear ” is too strong a word…..

  • SalemCat

Will there be PIZZA at the funeral ?

    Asking for a friend…..

  • SalemCat

I am pleased no character has ever died in this Comic.

Other than Colin’s dignity – on a daily basis.

Not a depature from this plane, but still cause for PIZZA !

Preferably Hawaiian with browned Spam toppings.

Thoughts on the death of fictional characters:

I find it doesn’t usually work in long-form storytelling like a TV show or a comic. Viewers/readers are attached to those characters and they miss them, and then the creative decision makers find a way to ‘bring them back due to fan outcry. This might be through outright resurrection, or cloning, or in more realistic fiction through flashbacks and the like.

It makes sense when an actor in a long-running TV show passes (a la Mr. Hooper from Sesame Street) but when characters are just killed off for a bit of a thrill (a la Maude Flanders), I think it’s a cheap move. Either the character is unloved and their absence won’t bother fans (as in the Maude Flanders situation) or they’re beloved and will return in some fashion anyway (a la Gwen Stacy) because fans won’t accept it otherwise.

It did work on M*A*S*H. I don’t really know why.

It’s a variation of the problem of switching characters out. It’s why when Sarah Michelle Geller and Jim Parsons decided to leave their shows, they just ended. Two and a Half men tried, but it was already suffering

On the other hand, it worked out for Monk and the aforementioned M*A*S*H.

        • ElectricGecko

I feel it can work, but it’s hard. It’s easier if the show has strong dramatic elements and a realistic tone, where the ramifications of death and the emotional fallout and all that can be fully explored. If it’s a comedy or genre fiction, though, it tends not to work. You gotta make with the funny, or the laser fights, or the dragons, and so the writers often can’t take the time needed to give the death weight.

In my comic, I feel that such a thing would result in a terminal tonal shift that would ruin the comic. Like in the case of the comic-that-shall-not-be-named-which-became-a-meme. It doesn’t work.

And this is coming from a guy whose comic has a cancer arc.

Melusine, a French graphic novel series. Teen witch Melusine’s best friend was Cancrelune. Was, as the artist got tired of her and killed her off. Bad enough he did that, but he did it by suicide, which was, is, just so wrong.

      • ElectricGecko

Characters killed off because the creator doesn’t like the character … that’s just another category of stupid entirely.

  • mermaidan

Your Traci picture this week resembles Phoebe, sans tail and horns; always a good resource image. Bravo!

    • ElectricGecko

      Sometimes I’m a little off-model. I’ll readily admit it.

Real talk: I didn’t like this Tracee pic at all and didn’t really want to release it, but I was running out of time and had nothing else to post.

  • Valkeiper2020

    (sigh)
    Oh, come on!!!
You dress a bunch of people in costume as the must ‘meddling’ of all ‘meddling’ teams, then you send then into THIS?
Who in their right mind would expect them to stay away from that valley?
I prediction last strip about the poor monster’s fate stands.

    • ElectricGecko

      Your prediction is probably correct.

    • HKMaly

On the other hand, I don’t think they will WANT to stop there. So … the car will break?

      • ElectricGecko

        Powerful predicting.

      • Valkeiper2020

Actually, Colin will break the van’s transmission.
But the TEAM will definitely stop in the Valley.
It is THEN that the ‘monsters should ALL flee for their lives (if they know what’s good for them).
        Of course, they won’t know.
They were hired to provide some “Scooby-Doo” action and will think the ‘scooby crews’ will just be nerds.

        WHOOPS!!!

  • ChrisH

Tracee offers what can be called “heat treatment.” 😉

  • LaughingDemon

I am obligated to offer the following response to the incentive:
    *wolf whistle*

  • mermaidan

Phoebe and Betty seem very much alike in their outward sexual appeal and inner naivete; a killer combination that drives a man wild! HOT! HOT! HOT!

  • Yeah, I’m now convinced this is an actor working for the Con.
Mind you… that is both awesome and appropriate!
