I don’t know what prompted the thought, but now I’m curious if Canada has a mascot character like Smokey the bear for their national forests. Does Canada even have national forests or are they imperial, or crown forests?
No crown parks. They’re either national parks or provincial parks. But no cute mascot. Canada is decidedly anti-mascot. And when we do come up with mascots, they tend to be really unappealing and unpopular.
Yeah, what was with that mascot for the Expos?
Youppi. He was actually quite possibly the MOST successful Canadian mascot, seeing as people liked him enough to let him transfer over to the Canadiens when the Expos … expired.

For a REAL failed Canadian mascot, look up ‘Timbit mascot’ for Tim Hortons. Or Ookpik. Both nightmare fuel. The latter made more nightmarish by the fact that he was assembled from dead bits of seal.

They’re not that bad. Although I can see how Timbit could be mishandled. He’s a bit of a special soul.
