With that out of the way, the answer to “how does a blind person play chess?” is actually shockingly simple: the board is made to be haptically explored (and has peg holes so you don’t knock the pieces over with your hands) and the black and white pieces are differentiated via the presence or absence of a little spike on top of each of the pieces.

i´d think daph is more a monopoly kind of girl – and utterly vicious at it too.
To much of a chance to not have things go your way.
You want a vicious Monopoly player. Kind Monopoly players result in games that never end.
Simple, since all she can see are blobs of shapes and colors, there is always having your opponent simply say, on the left side are your kings pieces, queens on the right. And since everything is either king’s knight to c3 or a3. Or queen’s bishop to h3.
A working theory.
You don’t need to see the board to play chess. You don’t need the board AT ALL. The starting position is fixed. The starting player has queen on left, on D1.
Queen on her own color. Always.

I’m sure the Gecko knows perfectly aware of chess and other games for blind people.
Wait until she discovers any hidden information game. Many card games rewards trickery and subderfuge. Cribbage, for instance. Gin Rummy. Canasta. Bridge. But somehow, I don’t think she’d like hanging out with a bunch of middle-aged people to learn all the weird ins and outs that’ll allow her to know and how to take down a 6 No-Trump and make the other team cry.

I’ve noticed the glow effects around people before, but I never quite figured out what the intent behind it is.
Stylistic. I just do it to make the comic pop, that’s all. Intense glows usually mean intense emotions, but it’s 99% aesthetic.
So, the colour choice doesn’t have significance?
Red is anger, yellow is shock. Pink is affection, usually. But every strip has its own color palette, so blues and purples and oranges and other shades pop in without much real significance.
Guess Colin would be Tuxedo Mask there with Sailor Puck. The only superhero who can be thwarted with a spray bottle of Roundup. lol

Daphne first introduced Hannah as evil. She went on about how evil Hannah was… and now we know she was right.
Not evil. Just in control.
I think as Hannah learns more about chess, she’ll learn the real goal isn’t to take the opponent’s valuable pieces, but to entrap their king.
She already knows all, I think.
Hannah’s smart. She’s going to educate Daphne I’m sure.
We are all afraid.
I think Hannah is still three moves ahead.
