JUNE VOTING INCENTIVE IS IN THE HOUSE!!! The warm weather is here, the parkas have come off, and it’s time to celebrate all that swimwear has to offer. Hit the beach with Phoebe! A vote for Puck on TWC will get you access to this rather special pic – guaranteed to include all of the following: sun, surf, sand, bikini, and palm tree. In no particular order. This particular voting incentive is no longer up on TWC, but you can GET IT AT THE STORE, along with all the other incentives, for a few bucks! I have … nothing witty to add here. FYI, Next week’s comic is going to be a guest strip from one of my favourite comic artists, which I am insanely pumped for. Also, this Saturday marks the start of June and a new voting incentive! This one is going to be a classic: Phoebe! In a bikini! On the beach! Simple, seasonal and saucy! Until then, though…

Just associating the word ‘career’ with Daphne’s scams makes me feel a little less hopeful about life.

      • Marnath

It’s only wrong if you get caught. ;P Plenty of people make careers out of dishonest dealings.

        • ElectricGecko

Nah, I’m pretty sure that bilking seniors of their scant savings is MORE wrong if you don’t get caught.

          • XMinusOne

What are seniors in a nursing home gonna use their money for anyway; renting a car, buying a motorcycle, dance lessons, going mountain climbing? Daphne can put it to much better use … Sex,drugs and Rock N’ Roll. : D

          • ElectricGecko

I think that the seniors’ money will likely go to video games if Daphne has anything to do with it.

          • Mahnarch

Congress people do it every day – and they get caught every day.

  • steve

i love daphne’s shirt this week.*CLAP* *rub rub rub*

  • Rock

Wow, that’s harsh. o_o Puck has done more than just provide a roof, surely?

    • ElectricGecko

Any attempts at parenting on Puck’s part have been sporadic and haphazard at best. So I’d say there’s a grain of truth there.

  • Ed Rougle

Thats it. No more votes until puck isn’t pregnant anymore.

  • Mike Williams

Haha, this reads like Arrested Development in Puck form. 😀

You write sharp wit very well, E.G. That takes talent week to week. Acerbic humor > toilet humor an any day in my book.

    • ElectricGecko

Well thanks! I like acerbic humor, though my preference is a mix. Any one variety of humor can wear thin. In honesty, my biggest comic idol is Shakespeare: bit of acerbic wit, bit of wordplay, some belching, some character humor, all mixed in with good pacing.

      • Speaking of humor, aren’t you non-American English speaking type people supposed to spell it “humour?”

I think Noah Webster or someone like that took out all the extraneous ‘U’s just to piss off the Brits.

        • ElectricGecko

The vast majority of my readers are American. The internet likes American spelling. So I spell American most of the time. Besides, it conserves precious space in the comic by dropping out those unnecessary ‘u’s.

          • Col Klink

Let us all hark back to who, when, where, and how the internet was invented.

That is why American English dominates.

  • To be honest, the “zero attention” line makes me feel a little bad for Daphne, especially since my parents were attentive and involved in my life through out. Even now, at 30, they still want to see how I’m doing.

Or is that simply teenage melodrama? Hard to tell sometimes at that age.

And yes, I did catch the Karate Kid reference with the “sweep the leg” on Daphne’s shirt.

  • Greg White

I would really like to see Puck and company as Dr.Who companions.

    • ElectricGecko

Not sure if it’ll happen in a voting incentive, but I DO have a killer idea for a Doctor Who-themed Daphne shirt. You’re bound to see it in the next few months.

      • Unostar

YES. I would love to see that as a voting incentive, sucks that you don’t have any plans to do so. Oh well, at least there will be a shirt. Seriously though, think what you could do with a one-off Doctor Who page! The possibilities are endless!

        • ElectricGecko

Part of what holds me back on the Doctor Who theme is the fact that I have not actually watched an episode of Doctor Who in about twenty-four years. And I don’t really care to educate myself on that front. But I’ll do … something.

          • You’re missing out. The 2005 series resurrection is excellent.

          • ElectricGecko

I’ve heard that. I’m too late to the game, though. I’d have to put in a decade’s worth of TV watching just to catch up.

          • Palagpat

            It’s well worth it.

Besides, the seasons are only about 13 episodes each so really it’s more like 5 years of catch up in terms of any other typical series.

Plus, if you’re really short on time, you could jump straight in at Matt Smith’s first season; that was almost a soft reboot (new Doctor, new companion, and new plot line all at the same time). There are a few carry-over elements that you would miss, but you should be able to catch on pretty quickly. I don’t really recommend this approach, as you would be missing out on two great Doctors (Eccleston and Tennant), but if you’re really pressed for time it is an option.

Or still, you could just watch Eccleston’s single season (season 1); 13 episodes and you’re done. If you’re not hooked after that, then no need to spend any more time on it. But any sci-fi fan owes it to themselves to at least give the “New Who” a chance.

          • ElectricGecko

So I’ve been told. And do in part believe it.

          • Salem Cat

Just draw a Tardis, with a caption below that Tracee is inside.

That’s all this humble cat requires.

  • Grig32

It’s a comic guys – taking Daphne’s comment on Puck’s parenting skills (or lack thereof) seriously is about as silly as taking the comic (or Puck’s parenting skills) seriously 😛

Also, the pregnancy arc is FUN (imo) and not forever, enjoy it while it lasts

    -clicks voting incentive)

    • ElectricGecko

Thanks for crusading on my behalf. Though I don’t take expressions of exasperation about the pregnancy arc personally, because I … sort of share them. It’s gonna be over REAL soon, guys! I promise.

  • Valkeiper2012

hmmm… the pregnancy arc is almost over, but the more fun (funner?) and longer lasting parenting arc is about to begin.

I think it’s time Daphne started noticing her boyfriend is ready to get serious (he has definitely been around long enough to not be mistaken in his preference).

  • Jesse

    Your the BEST…, AROOOUND!!…,

Sorry, had to get that out of my system.

  • Talia

Seppuku? Really? xD Ouch, she’d prefer disembowelment over talking?

  • SalemCat

I do believe a portion of Daphne’s Ponzi Windfall will be spent on an Upper Lip Transplant.

FUN FACT: The largest species of GECKO, the kawekaweau, is only known from a single, stuffed specimen found in the basement of a museum in Marseille, France. ROAD TRIP !!

So sad, tho. Will this be Humanity’s Fate ?

  • ComedyHobo

Is it just me or did Daphne go up a cup size or two during the whole stick comic fiasco?

    • ElectricGecko

Well, DURING the stick comic thing, it went a little crazy, because anime. But the way I drew her shifted somewhat in this time span to look a bit older. I’m not sure it was a conscious decision.

  • ComedyHobo

Oops, I forgot. ” I said. Sweep. The. Leg.”
    ” Yes Sensei.”

  • Frank Harr

Seeing as she was basically in her mid forties in terms of her ability to take care of herself when she and Puck met, I’m sure that formula worked for a reason.

Seriously, she’s basically got taller. I wonder about her. But not enough to want to know. I like the mystery.

I’m not sure the residents would go for it. They may not appreciated the pun an just want to give her candy.

She must be pitching to the staff. Desperate, overworked, underpaid and often sad. They’re a natural audience.

  • That reminds me of Blue & Roxanne’s surrogate parenthood relationship in “Namir Deiter”, and when Roxanne became pregnant back in 2004, their status didn’t change much, aside from the baby taking away Blue’s rights to call her sister her mum; https://www.namirdeiter.com/comics/index.php?date=20050203

The same can also be said for Tipper & Snickers, though they were always sisters, looking out for each other, so there was no need for surrogate titles….
