Oh dear. The adventuring party is fully equipped but they don’t actually have a PLAN for defeating the monster. “I show up and win” is not really a plan..

Some people can get away with that strategy. It does seem to be the major strategy for almost every anime fight. Hero finds villain. They fight, hero wins despite whatever the complex plans the villain had.
There never was a plan. See, Phoebe is actually a really terrible choice as a coach in this equation. Her charms are effortless and have never been the result of careful planning. It’s like trying to get a savant musician to teach you the fundamentals of music: you can’t teach something that comes naturally to you.
Ah that does make sense. She’s a dear heart and very talented in her way, but a planner? When would she have ever NEEDED to make a plan?
Well, unless savant musician takes an interest in what makes them so naturally good like I did.
But that would actually make Phoebe more dangerous, and she’s dangerous enough as it is. 🙂

That would be the smart approach.
As someone with experience in this area, striking a pose doesn’t work anyway. Glowering seems a much more affective method of gaining attention at a celebratory gathering.
I believe the trope here is “unspoken plan guarantee.” Basically, if the audience hears the plan before the battle, it’s doomed to fail, and if they don’t, it’s certain to succeed. So if Daph were genre savvy, she would be doing the right thing.
However, at best, Daph is “wrong genre savvy,” so humorous failure is the most likely scenario.

Well, this is more of a spoken non-plan. So if the spoken plan is terrible, does this trope apply? I’m not sure.

Well, it is literally that. But figuratively, it could be many other things.
While I doubt Daff would do it, what she should do is find some other guy to dance with. The jealous gambit. The trick is just to look like you’re having fun, but not be too obvious about it. I.e be natural, don’t act like you’re trying to get the other persons attention.
yeah, given daph rep and mood, i doubt that she´ll find someone brave enough to dance with her….but how about good old ignorance? you know, walk past him, ‘accidentially’ meet at the buffet, ‘oh hy tyler, didn´t see you AT ALL’ few guys can stand when the girl they think they have a claim on doesn´t notice them 😉

Well, that’s the smart plan. But Daphne’s not the type. That would involve dancing with some guy, and I don’t think she’d even lower herself to dancing with Tyler.
Dancing with – or even conversing with – some other guy might attract the desired jealousy but it also risks discovering some other guy she likes better.
Or is her attraction to Tyler simply that he’s her favorite toy – she’s not interested in anyone she hasn’t chewed on for a while?
I think, honestly, that Daphne’s (sorta) attraction to Tyler is based almost entirely on the fact that he’s one of the only people who puts up with her.
I dated a dancer, once, who could probably military press me and would make a great bouncer. Seductive and sexy as all get out.

I actually used to be friends with a bouncer who was very graceful in terms of movement, but was about as eloquent as a steam roller when speaking.
It was a very interesting mix and I actually miss him talking to him now that I remember him…

I know absolutely nothing about modernish music. I just got off of a season of my nieces and nephews’ singing Christmas carols and non-stop Nutcracker pieces. I think the most modern thing I’ve heard recently was “The Itsy Bitsy Spider.”
