Puck 645

Chapter: Jinkies!Characters: Daphne Puck Tyler (aka Taylor)Tags: considerate kind selfish van
IT'S NFTs WITH A PHOEBE TWIST! IT'S NPHTs!!! Okay, so they're not really NFTs. I'm not getting anywhere near the blockchain. But these are even better! Each non-procedurally-generated NPHT will be 'minted' to one of my high-tier Puck patrons - and they'll know it's theirs because their names will be on them! A new NPHT will be popping up every day or two all throughout April, so vote often to see 'em all! VOTE TO TAKE IT TO THE MOON!!! As for this comic... The peril of working with digital art is the unfortunate fact that most art programs are prone to crashing. I take great pains to avoid problems this way, so beyond just saving my file, I save multiple backup files by different names as I go along. It's a bit of insurance in case the file itself gets corrupted by a faulty save. This week the file itself got corrupted by a faulty save. And the auto-backup got corrupted too. The end result was that I lost two hours of work in a heartbeat. It could be worse, of course. But when you're always pressed for time and never have enough hours in the day, a loss of two hours can be outright devastating. Such is the dangerous life of the digital artist, though.

I did NOT see panel four coming to the surface so soon.

One of us! One of us!

Hey Gecko, why not continue the saving options as usual, but then create two temp folders. One will be for the day that your working, be it odd or even in number, and then you copy that days file saves into the corresponding folder. That way you shouldn’t loose more than the possible work of one day in case the main folder gets corrupted.

Defrag once or twice a week while at work. Close each file at the end of each day with a fin.

    I.e. puck-april 1(file) a
    File 1 b.ext
    File 1 c.ext
    ……
    File 1 f,g,h,i.ext
    ……
    File 1 t Fin.ext

The file extention be it png, raw, jpg, (etc)
Day one ends with a copy of day one work puck April 1a to Fin in the odd folder.
Day two starts with the copy of day 1 final in the worming folder as well as into the even day folder backup. And every save made by the wind of the day gets saved into the even day folder.

Maybe three times a day if your working a full day on it, or just what you do in one hour.

The redundant backup may mitigate the corrupted file, no?

I work the whole comic digitally in a single day. I’m sitting down and putting eight, ten hours into it on a Saturday, off and on. And more on Sunday. But the ‘cure’ is to just have me save the file often as different file names. Which is why I lost two hours and not ten hours. But I hav3 to remember to do that saving and renaming more often.

    Libidinous, great word 🙂

Sorry Tyler, Puck is proud of you now, it’s all over

  • Ichneumon

    This is magnificent.

  • Thisguy

Of course Puck would not be too mad at them for doing something she expected them to do. I mean, at least they stayed with the van rather than running off into the woods.

Since when should horny teenagers look after a fully grown adult whose dad is literally Satan? And the dumb idea was splitting up in the first place. At least we can leave this arc now because Papa Schnorf is also a genius mechanic, or he has a van large enough for everyone and he’s going to the con anyway or whatever.

  • Demarion

Criticising Tyler would be nothing, but to pay him a compliment, Puck knew which would hurt more. She’s evil here, but evil with pizzaz! Also, an image for when they leave Spooky Valley, Colin suggesting everybody else push the van to get it rolling to start, they refuse, then there’s a push, the van starts, and as they leave, Colin thanks Tyler for pushing the van- “I didn’t push it.” “Papa Shnorf?” “Not me!” Phoebe, Daphne, Puck, not me . . . . . .

Punk Phoebe – I like it!

  • LaughingDemon

Oh yeah, Satan will be really happy for them!
Finally some teens getting up to a little sinning around here.

    Nice aliteration.

I’m not sure what Puck’s play is. I take it that’s part of the point.

If they weren’t in the van, they could have better heard what was going on. That or it’s symbolic. Either way, bad children.

AHHH! I’ve had similar happen, but never THAT bad. I’m so glad it was only two hours.

Seated one day at the tablet
I was focused and working with ease
As my stylus wandered so swiftly
    Producing whatever I please.

I know not just how I did it
    Or what inspiration I had;
But I drew an better image
That had ever been seen on my pad,
That I ever had drawn on my pad.

    The pencils were perfectly crafted
    The coloring almost divine
It so perfectly embodied the scripting
I scarcely believed it was mine.

As I sat there all stunned at perfection
    The autosave started to run
It threw up an error condition,
And recovered from back at save (1).

I have sought, but I seek it vainly,
    That one lost image divine
Which came from the soul of the tablet
    And entered into mine

    Can any divine utility
Recover that save file for me?
It may be that only in Heav’n
Will my image be seen properly.

Something tells me I’m gonna need a Patois – English translator to understand some of the upcoming PUCK strips as this storyline comes to a conclusion.
Week six – Tyler’s Mom moves from lying to his choice of cosplay and becoming a furry.

As someone who still remembers their younger shenanigans: the back of the van is sneaky and where you go when there is nowhere else to go. It’s an exciting shame pit of shared authority where you sometimes get the steering wheel while the house is still presided over by parental authority. In terms of longer cultural memory: drive-throughs and what teens do at drive-throughs and scenic lookout spots that are often interrupted by officers. Knowledge is power!

  • Commander Clash

Imagine if his mother found out. Her head would probably explode.

  • Just Sumguy

Heh. Colin. You dirty dog, you.

  • SalemCat

My human pets Baldie and Janet confess to many happy times in the back of his van.

    🙂

  • ChrisH

Teens will be teens. It’s a fact of life, as Puck knows.
