As for this comic...
I had to seriously think about what word I used to refer to that big blue thing in this comic. Because I know that (alas) someone somewhere is going to get angry with me no matter what I call it. To some, it's a sofa. To others, it's a couch. And to a very small number of very old Canadians, it's (wait for it!) ... a chesterfield. Seriously.
In my neck of the woods, we use 'couch' and 'sofa' interchangeably. But in the end, I went with 'couch'. Because Americans like that word. Please tell me how wrong I am in the comments.

Chaise Lounge is classy because it’s got a bit of French in the name.
I’ve always heard couch and sofa used interchangeably, with the slight exception that sofa is used to sound fancier.
I think that’s a lot of Americans. And Canadians. Though many Brits will say that the word ‘couch’ refers to a very specific piece of furniture that is not this – it’s more what I’d call a lounge. For me, though, ‘couch’ feels right for this.

I’m having difficulty expressing my admiration for the voting incentive without reiterating what is already implied (Freshly Squeezed, indeed) so I’ll just say how much I like lemons and leave it at that 🙂

It can also be a settee, at least in the UK. Chesterfield is a particular type of sofa in the UK.
A settee? I feel like that’s a particular type of sofa over here. Whereas Chesterfield is a broad term amongst very old Canadians. Like, you gotta be over 90 to call it a Chesterfield in Canada.
Puck’s room has a crib and baby stuff. So where do Colin and Daphne and Miranda sleep?
Colin is with Puck. Miranda is in the crib beside them. We have never seen Daphne’s room. Not sure it exists.
Lucky guy, Colin, after all he’s done and all that’s been done to him…

Okay, theory I’ve come up with on the spot.
Her new living conditions push Phoebe out of her ‘All around good person’ mode and into ‘Satan’s Daughter’ mode (maybe picking up her own shadow). She hatches a plan to seek out and destroy the Cabal that displaced Dear Old Dad, in a reign of terror that makes Ivan the Terrible look like Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm, restore’s dad to his proper role in life, and returns to her normal self and terrifies the entire cast (except Miranda), especially Dear Old Dad.
Probably not going to happen, but it would be funny as hell.
It’s a good idea. I do like. I feel like it might break Phoebe’s character a bit too much, but it IS a fun concept.
Just make her wear a goatee like Evil Spock.
Some people would be into that, I guess.
I won’t “couch” my words; “so fa” as I know, y’all have covered most of the names for that piece of furniture except for “davenport.” Down here, a sofa bed was often called a davenport.

The incentives for Phoebe to get Dad and Tracee back to their former lives simply keep coming! I wonder if Papa Shnorf will make an appearance; he and Phoebe teaming up ought to have the Cabal begging Satan to come back.

Not sure. Phoebe might definitely be the only friend Puck ever had, though. And we can see why.
I always pictured a Chesterfield as one of those overly-ornate, uncomfortable pieces of furniture in the “formal living room” that is there strictly for display purposes and rarely used unless it’s for visiting dignitaries (which, in Hamilton, could be one of the scions/dons of a “family business” if you catch my meaning); and in the vast majority of Italian households (in Hamilton, at least) they are still vacuum-sealed in their protective plastic – and that plastic gets REPAIRED if anything happens to it.
“Couch” is, IMHO, used more in the regions of Canada I have been, and “sofa” seems to be more “American” – almost like “pop” and “soda”, when it is really a “soda-pop” (soda water with a pop of flavour, is my guess).
Heh. My older Italian relatives had that plastic covering on their furniture. I thought it was so bizarre.
I looked it up beforehand, and it seems that the couch/sofa divide is somewhat regional rather than national. But yes, ‘sofa’ sounds American to me too.
I’m with Phoebe here. Management doesn’t get to say some things. I wonder if anyone has any laundry going?

Well, since it’s not against the wall, it shan’t qualify as a divan… So couch I’ll grant. But put that bad boy against the wall, and words will be had, yo!

We have extra sleeping bags in the event of needing extra sleeping arrangements. I’m no stranger to sleeping on floors. (We’d literally crash at my great-grandmother’s place up north on the floor).
I have a futon couch sleeper in the basement. Very comfortable. No one ever stays over.
The couch also pulls out into a bed, and I’ve got a futon in the game room (also good if I just want to crash there, but usually I zombie my way to bed without issue). I suppose the futon’s a good fallback when the dog decides to pin the pillows (and thus the bedding) down and claim it all.
The Davenports I encountered in my younger days
had more of that basic “plain jane” appearance.

Poor Phoebe! I guess “no good deed goes unpunished.” I don’t see why Satan couldn’t sleep on that couch. He’s neither tall or fat, and it sure beats lying on flaming brimstone! :p
