Puck 72

Chapter: The Old OnesCharacters: Colin Phoebe PuckTags: inventory error
Back on strip #66, I stated that I considered it the second funniest strip in the entire original run. Well, here’s the first. This one still cracks me up every time I see it. It really requires no explanation, though I must say that the whole thing is vastly improved by Colin’s last line. That Puck: not a woman to be crossed.

I’m surprised you didn’t get any complaints about the first panel… Sorta justified if Puck is supposed to be centuries old… but still… That sorta statement can induce frothing rage in hard-line feminists.

Well, I wasn’t intending her to speak from a ‘completion of life’ front but more a ‘dating desperation’ front, but in truth, it’s all wrong. Phoebe does not need, nor really want, a man. She would only want a man as a certain type of life accessory, but her interest extends no further than that. Thus she remains single.

not wrong…hardcore feminists are…hardcore…as are any hardcore followers of any activist groups.
Being a person who raises goats, I have had encounters with animal rights activists, and they always rub me wrong…think of the intelligence of a generic cliché standard yet comical redneck, now imagine he isn’t a redneck and went to Harvard but still has that level of intelligence… and yet I had to start at a community college to get anywhere in life.
I also happen to be male, and my skin color is….not dark but not light? and I am strait…so half the hardcore activist groups already hate me because I exist…
so the morale of my story is don’t do dru…I mean watch what you say. 😀

Colin was just trying to help….

Please correct me if I’m wrong, (and I have no doubt that SOMEONE will feel obligated to even if I’m right) but I believe that Puck’s statement in panel four is punctuated incorrectly. The punctuation “?!?” denotes an interrogative exclamatory, yet her wording seems to call for the exclamatory imperative.

You are correct. No question marks should really be involved. Though I’m not sure steadfast rules apply when three or more end marks occur on one sentence.

Sorry to double post, but this strip brought the awesome. The last two panels FTW!
