Nothing much to say about this one. When in doubt, make jokes at Colin's expense. I have a playbook. I like to follow it.

If we wanted to get philosophical this could lead to a discussion about a persons evilness being limited by how much power they have.

    Also, good comic

  • LaughingDemon

Oof. When they said “Pride goeth before the fall” I guess they meant it “goes out” in the manner of an injured kneecap.

    • ElectricGecko

What’s worse? Having no pride or having no shame?

      • wright

Interesting question. On the face of it, having no shame is worse. Conversely, speaking as someone who struggles with self-esteem, having little or no pride in oneself is no bowl of cherries.

Of course, the very worst is to have no shame and too much pride…

  • Marcus Martin

Hey being a geek is a prideful thing to have.

    • ElectricGecko

I am very prideful of my Transformers collection. So yeah.

      • Gaudy

You joke, but I do show off my Legacy BlackZarak figure to every guest who comes to our home.

        • ElectricGecko

Mine is hidden away in my collection room, where no one ever sees it. Because no one I know actually would want to see it.

          • Frank H.

I stopped collecting those a long time ago. Mine have gone to the wind.

            Is it cool?

          • ElectricGecko

It is cool. A big robot two feet tall. He has a base mode and a scorpion mode. His head comes off, and forms a robot, and then that robot’s head comes off and forms an even smaller robot. See, this is the kind of coolness that is very lame to most people.

          • Frank H.

“See, this is the kind of coolness that is very lame to most people”

Sounds neat. Did you decide each robot has its own personality or is it like one mind with many bodies?

          • ElectricGecko

It’s … complicated. The weird, bizarre world of the Headmasters has multiple interpretations. In Western media, the little robots were separate entities (humans and aliens) that bonded and connected to the bigger robots. And in the Japanese media, the little robots were the only ones in control and the larger bodies were just lifeless vehicle-like ‘transtectors’. And there is no established dynamic with BlackZarak, because he’s actually a Headmaster possessed by the evil force of Devil-Z, a non-corporeal evil entity, who … uhp, it’s getting lame again.

          • Frank H.

            “It’s … complicated.”

Complicated. It sounds like the published narative and the toy are supposed to work in parallel.

I kept collection after I stopped watching the show and collecting the comics. I might have missed out.

          • ElectricGecko

It’s never too late to get back in. My son wasn’t alive for most of it, but he’s enthusiastically watched every show from every continuity with me. He is now, ironically, also too old to really care about Transformers, so now we both match.

          • Frank

“It’s never too late to get back in.”

No time, no money, not really interested. But I’m glad you and him have that. 🙂

          • ElectricGecko

Smart. Very smart. It’s a pricey train to ride.

  • Pat

Does this now mean twice as much on egg rolls and General Tso’s?

  • Frank H.

Puck? Colin? I hope it’s not me.

    • ElectricGecko

      It might be.

      • Frank H.

        Eep!

Is it just me, or is Miranda not enjoying the entertainment?

        Star Wars can be bland.

        • ElectricGecko

Star Wars is the definition of bland now. I hate how the fact that I like Star Wars has become, in 2024, as lame as saying, “I like (insert random professional sports team here).” I am basic. I am bland. And I am just a little embarrassing to everyone around me.

          • Frank H.

Some of the current stuff’s pretty good. I haven’t had the time or energy to see much of it, but it’s not all nothin’.

          • ElectricGecko

I’ve seen almost all of it. There are some good bits. There are some bad bits. Lots of ‘meh’ bits.

          • skullthetroll

They made such a mistake in dumping the old books. They should have just made Heir to the Empire the plot of the 7-9th movies.

          • ElectricGecko

Would have been better than what they got, certainly.

          • LaughingDemon

Could at least score points with “Read the Star Wars Books before the studio threw it all out”.
There is some good gruesome organic horror juuust on the edge of the Galaxy Far Far Away and they’re called the Yuuzan Vong.

          • ElectricGecko

Oh, don’t worry. They’ll go back and cannibalize elements of the ‘Legends’ universe and put them into the shows in half-hearted, watered-down forms.

  • Ichneumon

I expected the answer to be, “everyone!”

  • Wyvern

Is there a translation for the text on the manga pics?

  • Commander Clash

He should focus on green and envy too. He missed those.

    • Peya Luna

oh, there´s plenty people being greedy and jealous out there as well….i think the main thing he´s lacking nowadays is temptation – the devil is supposed to lead good people astray and make them fall from grace. at this rate, phoebe is more ‘evil’ than her dad, with her looks+job at howlers she´s most definitely tempting various married males to want to break their vows 😉

    • ElectricGecko

Hey, you don’t need money to be envious! That’s a growth opportunity for him!

  • “Who among you in that room is without sin? Let him or her throw the first stone.”

  • Aname

You may be lazy, hungry and horny Satan but where is your quintessential trait Satan.
Where is your Pride Satan, the mother of all sins, your most demonic trait. That which defines you.
Cultivate your Pride Satan. Revel in your wrath and vengeance.
All the sins will easily return to you if you just fill yourself with Pride.
Else we will end up with the new anti-christ, Colin of Hamilton, a pale reflection of the dark glory that once was.

  • bergerjacques

Tell you what you need to get your evil back, Satan.
You need a IHeartRadio Podcast and a national spot on AM talk radio.

  • demarion

Ummm . . . is this what is known as an intervention? If so, it’s . . . I mean, an intervention to correct Satan’s slide into sort-of benign conduct seems to be . . . for that lot, very typical!

    • ElectricGecko

This is not an intervention. This lot is too slothful for an intervention. This is a wake for Satan’s lost legacy. They acknowledge the loss, they shrug, and they move on.

  • Llywenna

    Sloth+Gluttony+Lust = “Too lazy to give a fat f*ck”
    That describes today perfectly 🙂

    • ElectricGecko

I am, in this comic, mainly creating a self-portrait. The fact that my self-portrait is split up over half a dozen characters is just a ruse to disguise the fact.

  • Stephen

Big question is why he gives a flip about the shadow of evil leaving him or not?

He’s still Satan. Have eons of pride just suddenly up and walked out the door?

  • Gaudy

I’d say Puck has Wrath pretty well covered. Daphne can tackle Greed. No idea about Envy – that seems to be the one sin your characters don’t express semi-constantly.

    • ElectricGecko

Envy is a sin with little comedic potential.

        • ElectricGecko

Were those examples of envy? I felt like that dynamic was different.

          • bergerjacques

In my opinion, yes. I don’t believe the kind of judgement that Colin’s sister ladles on everyone is derived from a true sense of superiority, but an over compensation for a lack of self-esteem and likely an unhappy marriage.
Heather enters the home acting superior and judgey, but is out of her envy of the kind of family life Colin has with Miranda. And given that Heather basically lives in a world of internal self-loathing, her envy of others drives her to make callous, caustic remarks in a pathetic attempt to bring everyone down to her emotional wretchedness.

We joke about the family dynamics among the central characters in this strip, but despite the antics, it is a happy, healthy home life. Which is something Heather clearly does not have. Thus, ENVY.

          • ElectricGecko

Nicely put. And 100% right. But I was just talking about the sins of the primary cast. They are alternately wrathful and slothful and lustful and such, but generally low on the envy.

          • bergerjacques

Furthermore ….. the fight between Tracee and Heather is all about Envy. Each banks their reputation on their desire for others to look upon them with envy. They look upon each other and it becomes a game of one-upsmanship about who should be looked upon with greater envy.

Its the same as when two so-called “alpha” members of a species meet up and end up clashing for dominance. Only in this case, “alpha” is not the right word, because neither is the “alpha” they perceive themselves as being.

    • Well, to relate to the Seven Deadly Sins, I have to relate it to the cast of “Gilligan’s Island” before I remember which is which…

  • G. Host

When was the last time Puck tried to find work? Colin supports his extended family and next panel should have had him dealing with that comment with Puck.

    • ElectricGecko

Well, she’s taking care of the baby. Any job she got would need to pay enough to warrant the daycare costs. And I don’t think Puck would be pulling in much beyond minimum wage.

  • ChrisH

Puck’s getting close to encouraging Satan to be more evil. Is she careless or is she so mischievous that she can’t help herself?
