Puck 149

Chapter: The New NormalCharacters: Phoebe PuckTags: maternity clothes mob pregnant Satan
So no epic fight between mob boss and pregnant redhead. Sorry to disappoint. And I have always felt that fashion and organized crime go hand in hand. Why else would those criminals be such natty dressers? And why else would fashion moguls be so … well, evil? VOTING INCENTIVE – How Red Can a Redhead Get? For Thor’s sake… I’d have figured some 600+ year old fey would have a better idea about how to get clothing easily.
    Once again… bedsheet-toga …

If you assumed that Puck has learned ANYTHING in her life after reading the previous 150 strips, then you clearly haven’t been paying attention.

      • Seems like this guy’s got as much of a fetish for bedsheet-togas as he does for Daphne. I’ve gone through so many of your comics lately, only to find this guy either bashing Daphne in a way to hide his furry obsession, or praising the bedsheet toga. 🙂

      • He has a point. Prior to around 1750, unless you were really wealthy (I HAVE paid attention in the last 150 strips; apparently Puck has learned nothing of money management in seven centuries) you either made your own clothes, or stole them off of corpses.

Presumably Puck was not running around naked back then (a red-haired nudist with pointed ears? She would have been burned at the stake in a second!)

Puck has learned nothing at all. Ever. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: first 600 years don’t count.

You know, the amnesia makes total sense now – it wasn’t just the shock or bump on the head, she must be naturally susceptible to it. In fact, amnesia may be a regular part of her fairy life cycle – every few years, her biology hits the reset, and she’s starting fresh with no memory of what came before. It would explain so much about her cluelessness in the face of her history and longevity.

I’d go with that. That sounds good. I’d make it canon if I didn’t contradict it a few times in the old comics.

            Palagpat – That’s pretty good.

You ought to be writing Premises for Potential TV Series.

The concept reminds me a bit of Broodhollow, where characters regularly forget fairly important recent events. Like the woman who keeps forgetting her father is dead; not just on a business trip.

The Colonel has long since lost count of how many corpses he’s stolen clothes from.

Money. Jewels. Armor. Weapons. Its gotta be in the thousands. Many thousands.

I wouldn’t put it past puck to have slept for decades at a time. And she could have easily lived in the forest completely nude to avoid the witch trials and stuff. Just because she didn’t learn anything that helps her in modern society doesn’t mean she didn’t learn ANYTHING in 600+ years.

Personally, I’ve always thought that the Mob was a wholly-owned subsidiary of the fashion industry.

Still reading through the archives, but I’d have to say I found my second favorite comic.

Have yet to figure out how to fit “Lady Luck asked me to dance, and I pinched her in the boob” into conversation, but I’ll get it one of these days.
