The roles come into greater focus. Slowly but surely. The gang is almost assembled. And for those who don't remember (or haven't read this far back in the archive), Puck is referring to their escapade at Canada's Funderland where Children's Aid did indeed get involved.

Oh, oh! Dress her as a ghost!!! A cute little ghost they can all be chased by and then she can pull off her hood and say “Awada gonaway witoo! Melonkitz!”
An adorable concept too. But honestly probably not as painfully adorable as the Scrappy-Doo concept.

That was a gag of one comic already, so it kinda already happened.
If I’m not mistaken, currently both Tyler AND Colin are planning to go as Fred. Are we not missing a Shaggy? Or is poor Tyler about to be ambushed by Daphne again?
Tyler will be Shaggy. He won’t get input on that.
Instantiating a Scrappy Doo is not child abuse, it’s abuse of those adults old enough to remember the glory of classic Scooby Doo subsequently being desecrated by the abomination that was the Scrappy era.

You know… the ‘children’s aid agency in Canada must be much more effective than ANY law enforcement agency in the USA.
After all, the law in the USA has to operate under so many restrictions, they are almost impotent except in the most extreme circumstances
I have to say that, from my experience as an educator, that might be very true. And while that can be a good thing, it can also be a bad thing. I used to teach at an ‘alternative education’ school that mostly got students from the inner city. I taught a number of teen moms, a number of kids from very poor backgrounds, and to those people, CAS (Children’s Aid Society) was an acronym that held the same kind of fearsome aura about it that the IRS or the CIA does for Americans. Many families had run-ins, were investigated, and were on watch lists. It seemed unreal to me, as a kid from the suburbs, that some government agency could be judging you and threatening to take your kids away from you, but I quickly learned that the poor are not treated the same. At all. I’m sure the CAS saves some kids from possibly tragic ends, but I also witnessed it create a lot of tragedy too.

In the USA, especially, crimes are evaluated and prosecuted according to your political party.
Simply belonging to the “wrong” party results in people being being fired, harassed, death threats, and arrest.
Whereas belonging to the “correct” party earns one a pass every time.
Of course, this sort of thing has been de rigeur throughout history, everywhere.
But for a brief shining moment we had graduated beyond that.
Literally none of that is accurate. For one thing getting fired, and getting prosecuted are two very different things. I also challenge to show me anyone who got arrested and prosecuted for being a member of any party.
Showing the pictures of your child dressed as Scrappy Doo at their eventual wedding reception, now THAT’S child abuse… and yet fortunately, by then they’ll be considered a legal adult, so it’s fully legal!
