As for this comic...
So this comic finally (FINALLY) establishes the canonical explanation for the shadow on Satan. Originally it looked like the shadow might just be location-based and a feature of his office, but then we saw that it followed him no matter where he went, even when outside in broad daylight. So yes, the shadow is magical, but it looks like it might not be a permanent fixture. Kinda takes the 'eternal' part out of the 'eternal damnation' thing. Oh well.

I’m on the fence wondering if this Satan would do this.
I think Satan is currently more in a place where he’d fall for the scammers rather than perform the scam.

I do want to see what his face looks like without the shadow. Part of me is thinking he’ll look similar to Father from KND.
On an unrelated note, is Satan’s hands supposed to be purple or tan? I thought the last few comics had it tan due to the mud, but wasn’t it purple before he got kicked out?
His skin color is actually a linear fade between tan and lavender. When the shadow effect is full-on, I’ve tended to lean the fade more toward the lavender, but as it changes, I’m tilting it more to tan.
I’m keeping my eyes out for indications of a rounded gold shimmer above his head. Though I suspect it will only be Tracee.

Going to be honest. I thought the shadow was something only the audience could see. I didn’t think it was physically present to everyone in the comic. Not to mention, I really don’t want to see what his face looks like outside of it.
That’s the real horror, isn’t it? Satan sans shadow.
Ah, I think I see now. To be truly evil you must have power and agency.
So, does this also mean that only those people, groups and organizations that have no checks upon their actions can be truly evil.

As someone noteworthy once said, it’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven. When you have external checks on your power, you tend to internalize them. You live a constrained life, morally and physically. You may be unhappy, you may be trapped, but you’re probably (on average) less evil than your average billionaire.
I always took it to mean that a rich man could get into heaven.. if they were forced through the eye of a needle. Scripture didn’t know about explosive decompression back then.
Heck, he’s even helping Puck get a peaceful poop.

The hidden messages says; “I call this drink ‘the Satanic Panic’ and you are free to add it to your cocktail repertoire. Though it may be poisonous.” My opinion regarding liquid smoke, it isn’t poisonous, though some studies suggest it may cause cancer.
If it’s not wrong, why are you doing it? You’re Satan.

I am convinced Satan is not Satan but someone cursed by Satan who has a long view of sin like Amazon. He did the greed well but some of the other sins he is failing on so he is losing his abilities.
Not a bad explanation. Or there are multiple Satans.
